I guess it turned out ok, the blue & green versions following soon turned out much better.
I got the idea during an install of vista rc1 on a test workstation here at work, the way the mystify screensaver draws it's images is much more pronounced than the same mystify screensaver for xp, the vista screensaver just whips out the image quickly in whatever random color was chosen and then it fades to black and then another random mystify image is drawn, etc. I liked it so much that when I originally released these bootskins, I just sat in front of the workstation waiting for the right image to take a screenshot of (the PrtScrn button works great for this obviously), everyone of the images looked so cool, you pretty much don't know which one to go with but I was pretty happy with this one, it was the nicest one I was able to catch in time before changing my mind.
My only problem with the colors is I get into a fix mode and everything has to be released blue or green or red or black & white, I don't venture too far out of my "safe" color palette. The colors in this bootskin are warmer tones and they actually turned out ok, I'll have to remember that I can work with other colors in the future and get half decent results.

I figured you had some kind of work in the field of computers by your tonalities and wordings in past posts. Possibly Networking?, or maybe Web development? You did mention MX2004. You could possibly help develop Websites with Flash?
I'm just guessing.
Anyway, if you ever want for the heck of it to have a Full Colored Skin of yours converted, send it my way and I'll see what I can do with it. Then I'll send it back your way. Maybe if it's good enough, we could get together and make the first XP Premium BootSkin Company! That is until Vista dominates.

Ok, I got that out of me, I'm cool now.
Yes I'm a systems admin, I don't know how you got that bit of info about the networking & web development but that's me. My life is server, desktop & laptop maintenance & harddrive imaging with a little telecom admin work just to keep it colorful. The webdev stuff is a side gig, more of personal than professional involvement.
I'll be honest with you about flash, it's nice but I think it's a little overrated, I guess it depends on the site, too much flash is not a good thing. Some sites put it up there like it's christmas 365 days of the year (which wouldn't be bad if it was) but when it comes to websites, too much flash is a turn off to me. I've done some web development work in the past, have a few "on the side" projects going on right now, but they're all basically brochure style sites but for the most part clean, easy on the eyes but still not boring.
I will take you up on that offer just to see what happens with one of my bootskins when a color perfectionist has a turn with it.
Vista is coming but nothing close to dominating yet but they're definitely pushing hard.
Hardware vendors don't have any incentives to keep XP on machines anymore but they do get some financial incentives from MS for putting Vista on the machines so you won't see any new machines coming with XP pre-installed on it unless you can custom order it that way. It was the same when WinXP came out and we were still running Win98/2K on the desktops. We just formatted the drives that came with xp pre-installed and installed win2k images (a year or two later, we re-imaged the same machines with winxp). I think it might take longer with Vista though, the os has changed alot from what I've seen - it won't be as easy as login & do your work, the architecture is different in alot of areas and I can see a bit of training being required to get people to use Vista. My user base still has their difficulties using XP sometimes and they've been using for a while already. Heck, when I first installed the CTP previews of beta2, rc1 & rc2, the new version of windows explorer (not ie7) got me confused along with changing desktop appearance settings, etc. UAC is not the savior of vista, I can see alot of people just mindlessly clicking continue at every prompt just to get it out of their face and that will be dangerous for a home user running with admin privileges - that's why spyware & viruses are so pervasive (especially spyware).
At first I thought I was working on M$ Linux, not windows.

and i get "Sorry, something went wrong while trying to add your rating."

I've also had problems downloading skins because the rating window tries to pop open when I hover over the download button. Maybe try again later.
I've noticed you've had some successful bootskins lately, it's nice to see some newer bootskinners bust through the ranks and wake up the old farts (myself included) a little. I look forward to seeing more of your bootskins.

THAT'S exactly what I've always said to my friends Josh, Perry, Mike, and a few others.
I did a basic WebSite for them back in '02, they're in a Rock Band, and they wanted me to make it all Flash. I have MX2004 myself, but never really messed with it. I told them, at the time, it was 5 years ago and didn't have a Flash Program but had looked into it a bit as for as what it can do, that right now in this point in time it's not feasible to be having a Full Flash based site. Most people were still using Dial-Up and you'd have to wait for Flash to Load, so I was like, "Nah, we'll just stick to a HTML based Site."
Plus, I agree with you. I've read so much about Web Development and it's true. Too Flashy of a site take the eyes off of the main objective.
Vista... ah a whole other story...I don't have time to respond to that portion, but I hear exactly where your coming from.
Anytime you're ready Rob, just E-Mail the image you wish converted and I'll have a go at it.

love the orange-yellow tones with this one Rob. It goes great with the fractal laser effect and your MS Orb!
