I think it is a nice dream but the problem is I think it looses to much quality. The black is just a first generation LCD screen. Its not black its dark grey. Look at the diffrence between screenshot a) No compression. Fresh out of 3D studiomax 7,5 gigabyte because wincustomize doesnt allow uploads of 7,5 gigabyte I had to compress it a bit. TheMasterBaron said he likes TMPGEnc 4 XPress best. I use the program too but the quality is very poor (or I think so) I tried some different settings and stuff but the result is almost always the same. screen b I do an input of an uncompressed avi. a b

Is the first one a still rendered from Max or a still captured from a avi or mov file that was rendered from max?

30MB is too small. Try 60MB or 80MB in size. With TMPGEnc, use the VBR(Average bitrate) Rate Control mode. Then press the Settings button and it will allow you to enter a file size you want.

For me, I got a 2 gig file down to about 30meg with Vegas Pro. I just stuffed it in, set it to my custom settings on Best quality and on WMV9, and it came out with almost no quality loss.

Yes the Master is right I too use TMPGenc, under format you will see bitrate\quality bitrate should be 20000 KB/s, Also what format are you encoding to? Mpeg 1 or Mpeg 2? If your still having trouble you might want to try working with the sharpness filter.

About the not-so-blacks, is it that much worse than black scenes in other videos on your pc? It looks okay to me, I just dislike the blacklevels on my pc/lcd in general.

How did you render it out, as a series of stills or as an a single file? If you rendered it out as a single file what codec did you use and if you play it at full screen does this problem still occur?

Still the same problem. In vegas pro and in TMPGenc 20000kb I rendered it as uncompressed avi. Straight out of 3d studio max on full screen the black is as grey as ever In TMPGenc I render mpeg2 mp@hl pixel 1:1 30fps ES video only thx for helping me out guys

What is happening is your video overlay or video and television color settings need to be changed. If your using an nvidia card open the nvidia control panel go to Video & Television > Adjust video color settings. Under the Standard tab you should several sliders. The one you want to adjust should be gama, you'll want to bring it down until it looks right. I have a 300 cd/m brightness and 3000:1 contrast setting on my monitor and my settings are as follows: Brightness:50%, Contrast:60%, Hue:0%, Saturation:50%, Gama:10%. Check the Use NVIDIA Control Panel color settings box as well. If your using an ATI card check the driver documentation on adjusting video color settings.

There's a straight black line covering half of the Earth. I'd rather see a very light fading black. Half of the Earth is just too dark and when it meets the day, it just straight black VS the daylight Earth.

daygo, you have it set to fill your screen. You need to set your computer to crop the dream, so there is no squeezing of large dreams. Right Click on Desktop>Personalize>Desktop BG>DeskScapes>Select Crop Crop is the one on the far right.
