People just don't give any credit to beginners. 
It's especially bad when they tell someone how bad their work is when they haven't tried it themselves. You downrating reviewers should be ashamed of yourselves. You don't have to be so abrupt and mean with your critique of someone's first attempt. The fact that they created something the rest of us can't do at all is wonderful! And as they gain more experience the better their work will be. Constructive criticism is just fine, but try to say it in a way that you don't discourage someone from ever doing it again.
