Pirates Premium Suite Walkthrough
Aaarrghhh! Check out me desktop, matey's!
Friday, May 25, 2007 by Island Dog | Discussion: OS Customization
I was very excited when I found out about the Pirates premium suite. Because I'm a big fan of pirates.....pirate movies, pirate video games, you name it, and I like it as long as there is some form of swashbuckling going on. Don't ask why, I just do.
This new suite is loaded with plenty of pirate goodness including:
- WindowBlinds visual style (XP and Vista)
- Icon package with 117 icons including ones for Vista
- Wallpapers
- CursorXP cursor
- LogonStudio skin
- Gadgets including a talking pirate!
- and much more....
To use this theme you will need to have the latest Theme Manager installed. If you are an Object Desktop subscriber make sure you update through Stardock Central. When you are all updated you can simply double-click the pirates suite file to begin the pirate "transformation".
With Theme Manager open, hit apply then a new window will open, select "advanced" and this is where you can choose some options. These options include if you want to install the WindowBlinds skin, Icon pack, and the various choices of wallpapers. Once you have made your selections, click Yes and the Pirate suite will appear.
Once that is done, it's time to open the Pirates booty! By that I mean the extras that are included in your download, some of which are listed above. There are a variety of gadgets included with the suite such as a media player, clock, calendar, and my personal favorite being the talking pirate gadget. To use this or any of the other gadgets just double-click the .exe file for that particular gadget.
Also included in the pirates booty is skins for ObjectDock, LogonStudio, Bootskin, and CursorXP. If you don't already have these just click to go to their websites for download information. Now check out my pirates desktop....
Remember that Object Desktop subscribers get a discount! To find out more information and see more screenshots, follow the link below.
Here is a video to go along with the Pirates walkthrough article.

If and when actual faults are determined that warrant an amended release they can be done...
Surely something being paid for should be faultless? else what warrants it having a price tag? the only reason we were made "warez-users" is because of the reasons stated above. I also dont see how its classed as being made "warez-user", he paid for it, he owns it, its his. Does that mean he violated pepsi cause i had a drink of a can he paid for? Dont avoid the issue

i just have to say something about this. it seems stee03 doesn't know what he's talking about.
1.the menu item is not out of line. the margins are set as they are so the check mark is shown outside the indentation, not inside it. the way stee03 has the margins set forces a display that is horribly askew.
2. combo box and glyph look fine as is. i set the thing to tile and can see little, if any, difference. i will let stee03 slide on this one but fail to see any validity to his claim.
3. the start menu image is set to tile on all 4 subskins! i though tmaybe pixelpirate had mistakenly set one to stretch and other three to tile but he didn't. if it was set to stretch, stee03 or his friend must have changed things.
4. the systray image is NOT jagged on my machine.
5. classic colors? what's wrong with them?
personally, i'd have trust in the talents of a known artist the calibre of pixelpirate over some person who has yet to show any talent other than complain about a skin and then admit he didn't purchase it. and i don't think your friend actually owns the suite. pixelpirate and/or stardock designs owns it while your friend purchased a license to use it on his machine. i imagine it's treated the same as microsoft is with windows xp and vista.

However, I think installing the suite on your PC and then posting the flaws in this post is counter-productive. It makes you look bad. It makes you look worse than the "flaws" in the skin.
What I think you should have done (and should still do) is to email support@stardock.com and/or sales@stardock.com letting them know what you think you found and what could be done to fix it. That way, they could have fixed it and sent an update and perhaps found a way to thank you for your help.
As it stands now . . I don't know. Your attitude does not lend itself to reaching out. But maybe that's just me.

It's done how it's done for a reason, no errors there as far as I can tell, but thumbs up for fixing them...

The all programs portion of the start menu ( gold side ) is set to stretch and the Places
portion (the Skull and Crossbones image side ) is set to tile.
I don't see why this is viewed a mistake at all...looked to me like it was supposed to be a brushed effect on gold side.
But I suppose when you actually PAY for something its ok to criticize it...
Oh wait, you didn't did you ?

Spoken like the true " PimpIt" that you are Stee.
Why pay when you can get it all for free.

Ah...but you DO have to pay for that particular product for it to be on your computer....and the word you near-missed is 'moot' ....

Hey there Stardock how the heck are you? I am pleased to be conncected with you and I just found out by cruising through the net. You are great people and totally love your work. I would like to have some more suites to look at and all I want is to download one as it has been a long time and now I have my own laptop it HAS to look good and I like shopping at Stardock. That is about it for now and I hope I enjoy my shopping and we work together as a team and get the job done.
Thanks again,
OSCARtheGROUCH(and that is on a good day!)

You do realise that puts both you AND 'your friend' in the class of 'warez-user'?
