Friday Goof-Off: What Happens When You Take a Day Off @ Stardock

Friday, May 23, 2008 by Zoomba | Discussion: Internet

It's Thursday afternoon, the mid-afternoon sugar rush is wearing off and we start to get a bit fidgety.  Looking around for something to entertain us for a few minutes we spy an empty desk.  It turns out that T-Man took the day off.  Now, we don't know where he went or why, but we did know that his desertion needed to be punished in some way.

Of course, we can't just hide his chair or PC monitors.  We've done that before (*glares at andrew_*).  We needed something a little bit more creative.  Well, one thing we did have was a pile of toilet paper.  So, being the mature and responsible adults that we are,  we TP'd T-Man's desk.

Now, we didn't just toss toilet paper willy-nilly all over the cube and make a mess.  That lacks style and finesse.  We wanted this prank to show that not only were we thinking of T-Man while he was away, but that we cared enough to really do the job right.  So we wrapped everything on his desk in TP.  Pens, mugs, empty coke cans, action figures, telephone, monitor, mouse, dry erase markers etc.

We even got the inflatable kangaroo Jafo sent us years ago into the act.

Here are the results:

041

A wide shot of the whole desk.  Yes, we mummified the kangaroo and wrapped it to the chair.   Oh, and if you look closely at the top right of the photo, you'll see we wrapped the doors to his overhead cabinets too.

040

Close-up shot of his desk.  Each can was individually wrapped.  The big package in the middle of the screen is T-Man's giant blue mug.

039

Keyboard, mouse, pens, even his pad of post-it notes.

When I go on vacation next month, I'm taking everything off of my desk and locking it away!

Do you know the phrase 'Trojan horse'?  The roo is mine.....and I've sent a coded message to him to wreak havoc in your absence.

Tomorrow you may see the errors of your ways.....

Jafo 's next fauna to send will have to be an echidna.....let's see you toilet-paper one of those!!! ....

....or a Tassie Devil...[they make PitBulls look like pansies]....yes, a live, snarling Tas.  [they don't need rabies to be agro....just awake - or not]

LMAO!

At least you used fresh TP.......

Someone in my office is always playing with my volume control......they know I start up Winamp within a few minutes of getting in and sometimes it's pegged out and other times it's turned all the way down.

My book keeper has a habit of setting her drink down and forgetting where she put it........so we all take turns relocating it for her throughout the day......

The nice thing is that t-man is rarely in the forums so won't see your admission of guilt.

ZubaZ is thankful he lives so far away from SD HQ sometimes

I used to do that too.  So as a gift for officiating at her wedding, my project manager had a mug made that said "If found, please return to Aaron Klenke"

The best prank we ever pulled was to move my boss's office into the center of the bullpen we had, tape Styrofoam packing peanuts to the inside window of her office (so that it looked full), and changed the lock on the door while she was on vacation.  So much fun!

If that's just for a day off, vacations must be a real blast. Best one I ever did was fill a co-workers toolbox drawers to the top with floor-dry,all 18 of them.

So, I was sitting in my office when Zoomba came in and asked: "Do you have any tape?"  I ask: "Who are you taping to the wall?"  He says: "No, we just have some toilet paper...."  So, I hand him the tape.

The most common response to the desk was: "What did the Kangaroo do to deserve that?"
