MyColors Free Registrations, and all freeware applications

Friday, September 26, 2008 by DorkCoffeez | Discussion: MyColors

All MyColors free themes and all Stardock freeware now have a registration built into them. Here is how it works now:

Go to Impulse, and then to the store. Click on Desktop then choose to 'sort by price'.

You will see Diamond come up as a free download.

Click the free button and then on the next page select 'Add to Impulse'.

Impulse will ask you for your email if you do not have one, or it should prompt you for the one you are logged in with. Either way hit Register or enter your current email and hit register. Impulse will then download Diamond for you while creating your Diamond registry. You will find the free download under MyDesktop. Upon successful completion an email containing download and registration information will be sent to you via the address you have entered.

This is the current answer to the "Free Stuff" questions we have been getting. You will be seeing all manor of free items migrating their way from the normal Impulse windows into the store portion of Impulse. All free MyColor suites will also go to this method of registration as well. If you have any questions please let me know!

Awesome thanks Seabass, I was hitting my head against a stone wall for a simple update, but you know how it bugs you if you see an update and you can't use it, thanks once again

Please know that if I wasn't clear this is what is going to be done for all freeware. Since this was a major request from the comunity they descided to act on it.

You can plan on a slow migration of all freeware to this type of download so please spread the word when more people ask. Should there be a big change I will, of course, post again.

LOL This is a real fun place to be. Stardock explains their freeware policy WAY TOO LATE (it should of course have been communicated far before the implementation, so there would have been no need for any questions at all) and for no particular reason the Stardock fanboys start screaming AWESOME! Like they do in each and every post Hahahahahahahaha ROFLOL!!!!!! Can somebody PLEASE explain why this is so awesome? Or better... please don't: I like to have a laugh every once in a while. Martin

This is actually a smart move for the business side of things. It will pull some people in to the store who don't go there very often..maybe they will see something they might want to buy while they're in there.

Ha! I get it....sarcasm!

Seriously, some of us just don't get it until it is explained...usually by more than one person, in more than one way. Ok, that would be me.

Sorry, but there was no 'free' button and did the 'sort by price' thing but then it didn't show up at the top of the list.

Okaay - I had this problem for the longest time, but I had to search this forum to find the answer . . . Maybe Impulse should tell the user that they need to re-register free stuff . . .

How do I register the free green theme?  IT's not on the free list in the store, does show up in My Themes, but asks for registration when I click on" apply".

Same Here. Think green is not on the list in the impulse store. And now asks for registration and will not apply.I assume this will also be added to impulse like diamond?

I'm having the same situation with the Think Green Update and I personally dislike that individual schemes need to be registered. It's a pain and at least Stardock should make sure everything's ready to go and synced up first if they're going add/update schemes this way so we don't run into these situations.
