Halloween Skin Start Menu Animation

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 by Island Dog | Discussion: OS Customization

Check out the animation on the Halloween skin, it's just amazing.  I really don’t know how this was done, but all I can say is great job!

Works for me on Vista, but, I have a friend that I got Object Desktop for as a gift, and is running on XP, and She isn't getting the animation.

That's what I have... object desktop and running on XP pro.  I wonder if there's a different download somewhere - other than using Impulse??

I am an Windows XP person also and I also do not show the animation.  Bummer.....   The video of the skeleton is awesome.  Hope they get this fixed very soon for us XP users.

That's awesome!  The skeleton ani was the only reason I dl'd this theme.  And unfortunately, on XP Pro I couldn't see it.  The please wait is pretty cool too.

I first installed it from the Subscribers section (individual apps' files in a zip)...no dice on the ani start menu. I also d/l via Impulse...still no bones about it. I'm on XP, using WB v6.3...all apps are updated to their latest, according to Impulse. And I, too, am getting the ocx error on the weather gadget. If I try to update MyColors, I get the following error: "There was an error checking for updates, please try again". Not trying to get support, cuz this isn't the place to post issues. Just adding to the discussion already in progress.

No animation here either. I going to give up and go back to RIP 2007. Maybe it will work next year.

For animations to work on Windows XP, a new build of WindowBlinds is required.  It's being tested, but we did not want to hold up the release because Halloween is approaching.

Island Dog, is there an ETA on this new WindowBlinds build? Like most people here I have Windows XP (as per the 2008 Stardock survey results, "51% currently have Windows XP and don’t plan to upgrade to Windows Vista"), and it's easier for me to be patient when I have a rough estimate of when to expect my desired outcome.

Ah.  Was that in the advertisement, I can't recall.  That would have saved alot of frustration I think.

Seems like either a release date slipped or Stardock wasn't considering those of us who would have the initial elation, after seeing the posting, only to be disappointed that the animation won't work with our version of WB.
