When will we see the light... I mean with ObjectDock 2?

Tuesday, March 24, 2009 by Smaky | Discussion: ObjectDock

It's been more than a year since I acquired ObjectDock plus (followed by a Object Desktop Ultimate & Wincustomize subscription a few months later)... I have seen great updates for many ObjectDesktop apss to come in the last few months, even a great new freebie as Fences.... but saddly enough Object Dock... which is what I really love (I even jump into development again)... has been a very different story.

Months has come by... and no single update to ObjectDock has seen the light, not a beta, no nothing. I have been reading the forums regularly on updates to upcoming releases but there is nothing clear at all. Will ObjectDock will ever be updated? Will version 2.0 really come to us? Who knows...

It would be great if anyone from Stardock would tell us the real story... In the mean time, I'll keep waiting.

Unfortunately there is no real information to report at this time. It is being worked on but at this point there is no solid timeframe as to when it will be available other than later this year. No updates for the current version are being pushed in favor of getting 2.0 ready to go. It is expected that in the next several months, information about ObjectDock 2.0 will be released. Keep in mind however that this is tentative and could change.

Any updates on this? A few months ago a few snapshots were shown here... but since then... nothing. Are we goint to wait another year to see ObjectDock 2 come to life... if ever?

i think i said this is the other threads regarding objectdock 2.0.

it will be ready when it's ready and not a moment before. Crying about it will not make it happen any faster. These constant posts asking about OD 2.0 are getting a little tiresome and boring. People have to be patient and just wait

Why wasn't the OP screened, answered automatically with the same response that Snowman liked, the thread sealed and after 24 hrs. deleted?

I am tired of seeing the same "When is OD 2.0 Going to Get Here?" post over and over and over.

How about it, Moderation?

Doc...if you look at the date of the original post, this one was started last March.  Smaky brought it back from the dead with a "is there an update?" response.

I know it seems like a dead horse to those of us who frequent the forums often, but I suppose if you were just a casual user of Stardock products, you might ask a simply "hey, is there an ETA on this thing" question after 9 months of seeing no updates.

I think k10w3 got you there Doc.

This is the only thread about the be all and end all killer app of the century - nay, eon OD2.0? I think not.

I'm sick and tired of this boring crap. Wait. Boring, repetitive, aggravating, recurring, chronic crap which is posted roughly once to twice a week, ad nauseum.

I'm sick of seeing it here at all.

Yeah..."Then don't click on it"...right Philly?

Wrong. This OD 2: when...etc. should generate an automated response. Neil and everyone else including you and I has answered the obnoxious question fifteen umpteen times initially politely, but now?

I like Karen, but she (and you) missed my point. So again:

These posts about OD2 should generate an automatic response or be filtered by Moderation and answered in a pm/email.

Get it?

I think you're just aren't showing any understanding.  OD2, to some people, is like the public option for healthcare to us.  Would I ever quit pestering my elected officials on this?  NO WAY!  You know what they say about the squeaky wheel...and this wheel has been squeaking for over a year.

I know you're thinking (and Stardock's thinking) is it will be ready, when it's ready....but the converse of that is the squeaking will stop when the grease is applied.

I think the next time one of these OD2 threads surface, I'm going to reply with "YES, WE CAN!!" as a response.

Another Object Dock 2 thread resurected.

Only thing missing is a comment from inc0gnito to make it complete.

The above is what sounds "whiney" to me. Why all the negative energy put into a post just to say it shouldn't be there?

To the individual that resurrected the thread - someone did once say "patience is a virtue". I am not sure when it will be out, but can live with the current (free) version until then.

I don't think the unrelenting demand for OD2 posts is what's really the issue -- I think Doc has a lot of other stuff on his mind, and he just doesn't need this on top of everything else, too.  (Just my suspicion)

Right now, a lot of the effort is being focused on the config.

We expect to have a beta of ObjectDock 2 in about 3 weeks.
