When will we see the light... I mean with ObjectDock 2?
Tuesday, March 24, 2009 by Smaky | Discussion: ObjectDock
It's been more than a year since I acquired ObjectDock plus (followed by a Object Desktop Ultimate & Wincustomize subscription a few months later)... I have seen great updates for many ObjectDesktop apss to come in the last few months, even a great new freebie as Fences.... but saddly enough Object Dock... which is what I really love (I even jump into development again)... has been a very different story.
Months has come by... and no single update to ObjectDock has seen the light, not a beta, no nothing. I have been reading the forums regularly on updates to upcoming releases but there is nothing clear at all. Will ObjectDock will ever be updated? Will version 2.0 really come to us? Who knows...
It would be great if anyone from Stardock would tell us the real story... In the mean time, I'll keep waiting.

The ObjectDock 2.0 beta will be along shortly. We have to setup the pre-order system first, but believe me, it's very close.

That's the whole point, I.D. We do. I say take your time and do it right. Nobody who loves OD+ is going anywhere.

Is this free for Object Desktop subscribers? I got the email, but no mention of Object Desktop users getting access to the beta and if it's free.

Sad that I can't already pay with paypal... I do not own a creditcard since I am a student and you need a minimum income of 10.000 euro's to get one.

ObjectDock is not part of Object Desktop. Anyone who preorders OD 2.0 will have the option to download the beta as with most apps we put out.

Really? Are you sure it never came with it? I don't remember ever paying for it, but it's sitting in here as OD Plus.
I did find an old email receipt for ObjectBar, maybe it was upgraded from that. Oh well, I'll pay for the upgrade. I definitely like the Dock.

Ok...so will current users of OD+ get access to the beta without having to pre-order? How will that work with getting the new version?
Reply #53 Wednesday, February 10, 2010 10:14 PM
Apparently no Bebi, the upgrade costs $10 for current OD+ customers.

ObjectDock Plus has never been a part of Object Desktop, it's two different products.

Doc...if you look at the date of the original post, this one was started last March. Smaky brought it back from the dead with a "is there an update?" response.
This is the only thread about the be all and end all killer app of the century - nay, eon OD2.0? I think not.
I'm sick and tired of this boring crap. Wait. Boring, repetitive, aggravating, recurring, chronic crap which is posted roughly once to twice a week, ad nauseum.
I'm sick of seeing it here at all.
Yeah..."Then don't click on it"...right Philly?
Wrong. This OD 2: when...etc. should generate an automated response. Neil and everyone else including you and I has answered the obnoxious question fifteen umpteen times initially politely, but now?
I like Karen, but she (and you) missed my point. So again:
These posts about OD2 should generate an automatic response or be filtered by Moderation and answered in a pm/email.
Get it?
You're wrong. The OP has every right to ask about the status. It's not like he's asking the same thing every day. He was politely asking for an update to a question he asked many months ago.
You're the one who's whining. If you're sick of seeing these posts, don't look. It doesn't give you the right to censor others, especially paying customers. Some of us don't live on the forums.

and I feel that happens quite to often around here...
but I am tired of hearing about it... Stardock should just make up a date already, say Dec 17th 2013 might be nice... lol
Object Dock 2.0 Official Release date Dec, 17 2013 Ill see all you there, and if it comes out early... well that will be a nice little gift to us all.

Making a post to your disatisfaction is one thing.. to prattle on for months in multiple posts allover the place, gets to be old. One is considered a disatisfied customer the other tends to often be looked upon in a negative light. Especially if overly vocal and excessive complaining of a few becomes more of a public nuisance.
Sure I have been disapointed that OD had not gotten a lot of love lately, but occasionally expressing my dissatisfaction with someting is quite a bit different than goin on and on and on and on,making an obsession out of it. Theres this phrase about beating a dead horse.....
I also Do know that when it is released it will most likely be well worth the wait. The SD crew has yet to fail to go above my expectations on a prog update.
I know you're thinking (and Stardock's thinking) is it will be ready, when it's ready....but the converse of that is the squeaking will stop when the grease is applied.
The difference is, with the governemt you have a larger right and duty to request change for the betterment of society, it will be answered/ honored if the majority agree, but then you pay large sums of cash weekly to the government. so you should expect a decent say in it's use.... On the other hand for a mere $20 I don't think anyone should have to put up with some of the agrivated attitudes I've seen in some of the posts. As well as this is a private company not a public institution that we can demand action from. Yes folks can express thier disatisfactin.. but on the same token $20 dont buy folks the freedom to abuse or harass.
