3 Tips for WindowBlinds Users

Wednesday, April 11, 2012 by Island Dog | Discussion: OS Customization

WB_icon_smThis is aimed at beginners and new people to WindowBlinds, although maybe even some experienced users might benefit from these tips.  Anyone who uses WindowBlinds knows how easy it is to change the look of Windows, but WindowBlinds has some cool features that maybe you didn’t know about.

Get WindowBlinds here – www.windowblinds.net

1. Manage Wallpapers

WindowBlinds can also help manage your wallpapers and even be set to change wallpapers based on a variety of intervals.  Have it change your wallpaper every hour or every morning.  You can add specific directories to WB and it can even help manage wallpapers from Windows theme packs.

2.  Random Skins

Much like how you can have WindowBlinds change wallpapers at random, the same can be done for WindowBlinds skins.  WindowBlinds can be set to change skins every time you login or apply a skin.  You can choose to add all your skins, or pick and choose from your favorites.

3. Download Textures or Create your Own

Whether it’s Aero or a custom skin you downloaded from WinCustomize, WindowBlinds can apply textures to skins giving you even more customization possibilities. Textures can be downloaded from WinCustomize, or you can easily create your own.  Here’s a tutorial to check out.

I really like creating my own textures. It can be a challenge making textures with patterns look right but with tweaking it can be done. Thank you ID.

Not with Windowblinds, but Theme Manager allows you do to that.

It would if it worked.....it doesn't.

One thing I really like about item# 1. You just drag a wallpaper into the UI to add it to the WindowBlinds WP folder, very handy.

Ok here is a question and hoping fo rthe answer as i asked it before but no answer. I download a WB, double click to install. At the bottom right of the desktop a window use to pop up and say a new skin has been installed (or something like that) If you clicked on that brfore it left the screen the new skin would apply. My problem is it doesn't pop up or show anymore after I install a new WB. Use to use this all the time now I have to open windowblinds and install it. No big deal just another step but would like my notification to pop up again. Have to run out for an hour and hope you all have an answer for me of how to fix this. Thanks.

Dave...I expect it's WB-skin-specific.  The last WB I dl'd self-installed with the notification....just a couple of days ago.

My personal preference would be that they actually didn't.  Sometimes [most] I dl a skin to check it...not to use it...or even want to use it....

I made textures, put them into windowblinds, found the tga files and copied them into a folder. What do I do now so that I can upload them and people can use them? Thanks

Thanks for the answers Greg and Jafo. I wasn't worried about it however I just saw a couple of up loaded skin screen shots with it showing. It won't show here no matter what skin I download. No big deal just hought I did something here like uncheck something or whatever. Thank a lot.
