Community Covid-19 Check-in Post!

Monday, March 23, 2020 by Island Dog | Discussion: Everything Else

This is certainly an interesting time right now. I know many of us around the world are social distancing, self-quarantining, or whatever phrase you are using for it.

So let's take a moment and check-in here and let the community know how you're doing during all this.

For me, I am fortunate enough to work from home so I've really just been staying in. Only going to the store to get essentials.

My wife is working home indefinitely now, so we're all just working during the day, and hanging out at night.

How are ya'll doing?

Staying at home, refusal to go out but for essentials, and even then it's sparse.

Otherwise safe, healthy, low-risk.

Doing my part to flatten the curve.

Presently at home after having had the flu, bad coughing and some sniffling +2 weeks ago.  When called to say I could come in I was asked if it all was gone, admitted still coughed a little and occasionally had to blow my nose.  Was then told, don't come back until you been 2 days without any symptoms.

This was just as week and a half ago, when it all hit the fan so to speak.  But once 110% again then it is back into work.  Working with Public Transportation so got to work, those that has other essential jobs has to come into work in some way if not owning a car.  There has been a very visible reduction in passengers though, and they will be adjusting the schedules accordingly in a couple days.  Plus there is way more other drivers off on sick leave then normally right now, so the traffic is already suffering when trying to maintain the normal schedule.

Have a feeling though that this all might be around for a couple more months, maybe all year.  Hopefully way wrong and the experts finds a treatment for it.

Hope you all are safe and careful !

On the bright side, when I'm not working or getting essentials and food, I'm staying at home gaming, skinning, writing songs, playing guitar & singing, drawing, reading books (made of paper!) and enjoying my own company as much as possible.

On the not so bright side these days, maybe, is that I 'm a health care worker and work in a building with 32 service apartments for people with various diasabilities & needs & age. I will do my best to stay safe and do a good job, and only time will tell how this goes. Fingers crossed. I have no challenging diseases, so hopefully I will survive getting the virus, I think.

Hope you all stay safe & with us in the future!

My wife and I are both retired, so except when we're traveling we usually sit around the house all day anyway.  She had gone shopping before our governor shut down the state, so we're pretty well set for food.  We of course had to cancel a trip where were were going to spend a week in northern Italy and then board a cruise ship to sail around the Med for 3 weeks.  Fortunately we got most of our money back for the trip to Italy, and credit for a future cruise.

Meanwhile, essentially all of Las Vegas is shut down by order of the governor.  All the casinos are closed, all of the shows are closed, and over 60,000 casino workers and performers have been laid off.  If this goes on for a month or more, this town is going to take a bigger economic hit than 2001 or 2008/9.  That's what happens when the entire city is dependent on tourism.

My biggest worry is for the health of my 90+ year old mom and the lady who provides most of her in-home care.  I usually visit her for a week every month, but now I can't even do that.

Doing fine here in Indiana, but we did have a case about 4 miles from me. Since I am 69 years old and a Disabled Veteran, I am staying indoors and not going anywhere. Heck they even closed my local VA Clinic here and cancelled my appointments. Sure hope all this goes away quickly. Everyone stay safe please!

SOSDD Here.  Using a lot of hand sanitizer, running for the inlaws in their 80s.  Wife is a nurse and can't really help risking contact with the virus.  We are just doing our best not to risk spreading it.

My wife and I stay in.  I work during the day; my office is still open.  Most are tele-working so lot's of distance between us at work.

Groceries, drug store that's about it.  We watch a lot of TV and movies every night.

I am a valet at a pretty big Hospital. Starting last Monday the valet service was shut down. So they are having the valet guys assist in checking out all who enter the hospital. By assist I mean helping people go where they need to go in the hospital. There are rules now on how many people are allowed, no one under 18 yadayada. Everyone gets their temperature taken and are asked a series of questions.

So I told my boss I'll be 68 in May and I feel I need to be in environment where there are less people. My boss is having me go to another hospital where there are less patients and visitors. I guard the entrance and redirect people to the emergency room entrance where they get checked out before they can enter.

My daughter is showing signs that to me are corona virus. She went to her doctor. They don't know if it's the virus or not. Could be just the flu.

The doctor has no tests so the doctor told her to go home and stay home. So she lives here and I suppose I'll get it but I feel strong and don't have any underlying conditions.

I wash my hands and use hand sanitizer and I don't touch my face but I don't think there's any way to avoid getting it if you're around someone who has it.

Hi from Auckland New Zealand. Covid19 Count 102 in total, no deaths, not sure how many cured.

A Nationwide One Month Lockdown starts 11:59PM Tomorrow Night. Keeping 2 metres between each other, avoiding all except those you live with, rules like that... Fortunately, as a supplier to an essential service - fire, mainly - which is remaining open, I'm still part-time working.

Our government is deciding whether or not liqour stores are an "essential service" and can therefore, like supermarkets, remain open. I'll keep you posted on that.

To any of you who are in the toilet paper making industry - You So So Lucky People!

Could we petition the tv companies to drop all remaining "Better Call Saul" episodes/episodes of our favourite shows?

In Las Vegas both liquor stores and marijuana dispensaries are considered essential services, as one might expect considering it's Las Vegas.  I'd be interested to hear what other countries/states are doing with them.

In Norway, liquor stores are open and business as usual. Pubs, restaurants, Burger Kings etc. are closed until further notice as with many other considerd non-essential businesses.

Staying in. Frustrated by not being able to check on my parents but they're particularly vulnerable so it's for the best. SO was going to fly over in April but that's not going to happen now with the lockdown. In general things are quiet here, but the mood has definitely shifted. No reported cases of the virus in my area yet.

Yeah, we are fine here, though Shaunna is currently in hospital with a bad infection to her left leg which was not responding to regular antibiotics.  It's not Corona virus, thank goodness, just an unrelated injury that has already improved since she went onto intravenous antibiotics.

As for me, I'm no worse off than I was a few months back, before this dreaded illness raised its ugly head.  I still have the usual aches and pains from arthritis, but I actually feel well .... no sniffles or coughing, no fever or elevated temperatures.  I don't get out and about much these days anyway, so self-isolating isn't an issue.  I have plenty of interests to keep me occupied and stop me going stir crazy.

Moscow. Russia.

I am trying to work from home but not all is working fine so I have to show up in the office anyways. I am living with my wife and 2 small kids. My 3rd grader is having his classes via some app now - tele-school. It was a mess to set all up.

My grandma is living in another part of the city and I had to cut my visits to her in order not to expose her to additional risk. My mother is living abroad so I have no idea when I will be able to see her next time.

All adults who comprise my family (including myself) have some morbidities so if we catch this shit - our chances for getting the complications are  higher than for the rest of the population.

There are very few people in the streets who wear masks, not many people take COVID-10 seriously. This will change...

There is a general feeling that the government is not telling us all the truth in order to avoid panic. Some panic buying is happening.

I fear unemployment, Russian currency is also under heavy pressure due to low oil prices. Last week my salary lost around 30% of its purchase power.

This is it for the moment.
