Sneak-peek at NEW WindowBlinds skins
Thursday, June 3, 2021 by Tatiora | Discussion: Stardock Blog
WindowBlinds is one of our software products that has been around for quite a long time - longer than I've been at Stardock, at any rate! If you're unfamiliar with it, WindowBlinds allows you to customize the look and feel of your taskbar, window frames, and more. You can make your desktop look unique by choosing from several different styles and skins and adjusting them to suit your personal tastes.
I think one of my absolute favorite features of WindowBlinds 10 is the randomization. If I like a bunch of skins, I can use this option to have my computer cycle through them at random intervals, giving me a fresh look and a bit of a surprise every time I boot up. The per-application skinning is great for variety, too - I can use one skin for my word processing software, and use a different skin for something like Premiere.
But, I digress! Recently, we've been developing some new skins for WindowBlinds and today I get to give you a little sneak peek of what's coming. PLEASE NOTE: These are not 100% final and some aspects of these may change before they are available.
Let's have a look!
Aero Executive
NeXTSTEP
Open Windows
AbraCadabra
Aero Metal
Aquarium
Dragon
Elegance
Aero Midnight
Airframe
Driftwood
Parchment
PlasticXP
Whew! That's a lot of new skins. They'll be available soon, but in the meantime, let me ask you this: which one is your favorite? Share with me!

While they all look phenomenal I'm looking at PlasticXP. Just have a thing for the iCandy/plastic toy look. Plus the coloring is spot on.

AbraCadabra was a favorite of mine.
The Aero skins too...and the rest!

any luck contacting Mike Bryant about updating his skins? Plus, you have skins by Boxxi, Hippy, VoodooFreak (Voo), Tiggz, and many others that deserve to be updated as well. I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to see this happen. Don't get me wrong. I'm very appreciative of the skins you've shown being available soon. I also appreciate Ton (LightStar) updating many of his older skins along with some of John's (vStyler) skins as often as he releases a new skin. Tom is a machine! Anyway, I'm fully aware that only a finite number of older skins can be updated but Mike Bryant's (MikeB314) skins are what got me to purchase Windowblinds in the first place back in the Win95 days. I think the name of the first skin I installed was Tan and Green. There was also a blue version. I'd have to look thru Mike's library to find it to be sure of the name though. Carry on the great work, everyone! ALL of you skinners are appreciated by non-skinners and consumers like me. And then there's Adam (who was working on WB back then) and now Neil. I REALLY APPRECIATE you guys for developing WB to what it is so we can alter the appearance of our desktops.

The most important skin to me is the one I'm wrapped up in, as wrinkled as it may be, but I would also love to see updated works from Mike Bryant, IR Brainiac and other great skinners of the past. It's not that I dislike recent skins from current artist, but I'm sure that I'm not alone when it comes to classic skins from yesteryear being revived for Win 10.
Whether that's always possible or not I don't know, but it'd be nice to see some of the great themes of the past given a face-lift for more modern times.

Some of these are skins that you had to buy. If you bought the original are you going to have to buy the new ones?

Good question. I bought Aero Midnight from Stardock back in the day, It's still in my downloads list at Stardock.
