Releasing Start11 1.41 with compatibility for Windows 11 KB5022913 / Moment 2

Making Start11 compatibility with Microsoft's latest update

Tuesday, March 7, 2023 by BradSams | Discussion: Stardock Blog

Today we are releasing Start11 v1.41 which makes Start11 ready for the next big update that Microsoft is shipping for Windows 11. Called KB5022913 or Moment 2, this release is currently available to anyone who is actively looking for new Windows Updates, but it will be pushed more aggressively starting on March 14th.

March 14th - often referred to as Patch Tuesday - is when we initially expected KB5022913 to be released, but since it went out early we expedited the work to get this patch out well ahead of schedule. You should be able to download this release today if you like, but it will be  rolling out to our users over the next couple of days, too.

For our Steam users, you should also see an update coming to your device as well. We have pushed the update to Steam and it will prompt you for an install as it rolls out.

The entire changelog for this release can be found here. If you run into any issues, please post them in our feedback thread. We also ask that if you are going to post any bugs, please make sure that you identify which version of Windows you are running and the build number.

While there are not any new features in this release, it is a significant update under the hood as it brings compatibility to Microsoft’s latest updates to the taskbar and system tray.

Start11 is the best way to enhance your Windows 11 (and Windows 10) desktop experience. We are frequently shipping updates and adding new features.

If there is something you would like to see in our next update, let us know in the comments below.

Would like the option to center all icons in the taskbar on more than 2 monitors again. This behavior stopped with this update from Stardock of which was required as MS update affected the taskbar.

I have a Surface Pro and 2 monitors, previously this function would work on all 3. I realize this is listed as "*** experimental ***" but it did work.

Not a huge deal breaker, will just move everything to the left again. Love the product and still cannot understand how anyone likes the new Windows 11 start menu and taskbar. Windows 10 arrangement was the most productive for me. Left monitor = left taskbar, right monitor = right taskbar, and Surface Pro on the bottom as it is normally positioned. New device came with Windows 11 and could not easily go to Windows 10.

For this very reason, staying on Windows 10 for my work laptop, far more productive.

Great way to jump the shark. No longer works,  killed my computer. Half an hour fighting with it every reboot. Total failure. I finally figured if I click the windows start button on a secondary monitor (use 3) over and over and over eventually it starts...or i can just disable it...but there IS NO TASK BAR ON MAIN MONITOR, JUST SYS TRAY, HAVE TO USE TASK MANAGER. Stock win button on secondary monitors, but it does not work.

Huh?

Also stops other background tasks from starting.

...been using this since win 8...first absolute major failure, so maybe there is hope...

After multiple reboots, turning it off, on, etc...it seems it boots 'most of the time'.
Simple stuff, like sign in page here goes to black page, etc. yesterday there was no forum I could find, today it is where it is supposed to be.

Oh well, I now see other's with issues too. Good luck )

I'm on Windows 11 Insiders dev ring arm build 23419, Start11 does not seem to function, and I get the compatibility notice window when clicking on the update check button in the UI.

Is there just a general lack of support for the Arm64 builds of Windows?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, from what I know, Stardock software do not work on ARM base system.

Thanks

Thank you! Start11 comes very close to what I was looking for (which was something like the Whisker menu from XFCE4 on Linux).

I dual-boot between Windows 10 and Linux and have been borrowing ideas from the Linux side for my Windows 10 desktop.

In my case, I'm using Start11 with the Modern theme and just the left-hand panel with a few apps pinned at the top and a few of the most recent apps at the bottom. (For folder access I have Explorer pinned to the taskbar and use right-click on that.)
