I'd like to contribute to making gadgets. Is there a tutorial somewhere? Is this skinning or programming? I am a C++ programmer if that helps.

It is skinning. And some programming. Mostly VBS.
Hmmm, there may be some tuts. You'd need DesktopX Pro, if you don't already have it.
Make sure not to get the 4.0 version. Stay with 3.5.

What would really help would be if you could write some plugins for DesktopX. I think you could help DX a lot.

Well of course I have version 4.0. 
It's installed but I've never used it or even had a good sense of what it is. Can you explain what you might want to see as a plugin? I'm basically an applications and webpage programmer so I'm not sure how well I'll do at low level stuff but fill me in and I'll see what I can do.
