Can someone explain the difference between a gadget and a widget? I think the DX tool needs Desktop X to run and the gadgets and widgets are standalone, Beyond that, I'm not sure.

DX themes require DesktopX to be running. Widgets require DesktopX to be installed, but not necessarily running. Gadgets do not require any extra software and will work on any machine as it is a stand alone app. Which is the meaning of "Standalone gadget, no software needed." As I put in the description, usually, I guess I missed it here, I will edit. Thanks!

Thanks. I thought I'd seen the standalone gadget comment in some descriptions and I understood DX gadgets need DesktopX running. It was the widgets that really confused me. Is there an advantage to running the gadgets over the widgets?
