I want to know how I can fix this.

You cannot, because it is not a bug. This is how HUD Weather works. Thus, the forecast data will be displayed as is.

It is a bug.  It used to work correctly.  The High temp for the day cannot be the same as the Current temp.

I also checked with WeatherLab-10.  Same problem.  Maybe it's my city?

Maybe it's my city?

No. This is the weather server. When the current day ends according to their internal clock they display N/A as a daytime temperature for first day.

I don't want to see this. So my weather widgets replaces the empty field with the temperature value for the first hour of the current day.

There are no any problems or bugs. There is only a desire to see the temperature instead of the damn N/A. I cannot influence or change the Weather Service policy. I'm also unable to correct their empty or invalid data. I can only use this data in the form in which it is.

So forget and use HUD calmly. Or remove it and use something else.

I understand about N/A.  I'm saying the Current temp and the High temp are the same.  All day long.  This should not be.  It never was before so it must be my city or the feed.  How about this:  Check Bloomer, Wisconsin, USA.

Check Bloomer, Wisconsin, USA.

I checked. It's definitely a server. More precisely, the html code. They seem to be using different tags for the same data on different web pages... This is the first time I've seen something like this...

Okay. But now I am working on another thing. I managed to speed up the launch time of program almost twice. However, tomorrow I will see what I can do with the weather code and try to bypass their stupid <tags>. Then I'll upload an update.

No hurry, Vad.  I just wanted to make sure I haven't lost my mind.  Thanks again, as always.

I just wanted to make sure I haven't lost my mind.

Unlike you, I seem to have lost it. Imagine, these weather maniacs remade their <html code> once again! It looks like they do it once a month. But why, if their web site works fine without these rework? Just wondering what kind of fool is paying for such a useless job? I would like him to hire me...

Anyway, I fixed the Weather Informer (probably for the hundredth time) and it works again. There are many interesting things that I would like to do. But instead, I have to fix the widget because some of the web designers have itchy ass. I'm already tired of all this...

A few tests and I will upload it here...

Good.  Thanks for your hard work.  I have an itchy ass, too.

Thank you!

It's funny, but HUD worked for many months on my computers, and I did not see any errors. Only after uploading here it turned out that the program has serious compatibility issues (special thanks to IceBabee and GregII). After about 4 weeks we managed to make it work on almost any computer. And I'm very glad to hear that it works for you too.

Hi Vad_m..... I finally got this to work but, but the CPU, GPU, RAM and HDD Activity around the clock does not function.  I can bring up the Icons and it does recognize my HDD on the desktop area but from the clock area.  Any ideas?  I'm sure it's a programming issue that I can't change, and no ini file as well... Other than that, very nice!~

Hi! Be prepared, it will take time...

For example, a week ago I bought a new PC with Xeon CPU,  hybrid graphics (Intel UHD 630 / NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000) and NVMe drives. And now I'm having problems with HUD Media Player (stopped working when playing any videos) and NVMe SSD detection (detected as external drives...). So I understand your problem.

I need to know the details of your computer: laptop / desktop, CPU name and family, GPU (or GPU's names) and hard drive types. Then I will think about what I can do for you.

Thank you!

As far as I can see, your configuration is almost the same as on my computer. This is very good news! That is, you need to wait while I make it work on my PC.

Quick fix for media player: Windows Media Player runs with integrated graphics only. So to allow play video in the HUD Player you need open Nvidia control panel --> Manage 3D settings --> Program Settings --> Add (add HUD Desktop.exe) --> Select the preferred graphics processor and select Integrated graphics. After that any videos will play without any issues.

Please download the updated version: link (this is HUD Desktop.exe i currently use). Try to run it and post the screen shot here. I need to see it to understand what to do next.

Thank you, Steve!

Have you tried an updated version (the link above)? It should work better with the hybrid PC.

I finally got this to work but, but the CPU, GPU, RAM and HDD Activity around the clock does not function.

The meters on the sidebar and placed around the Clock display different data. The "central" meters shows the general device activity in your system. The "side" meters show the usage per device - for example CPU load/clock speed; GPU load/fan speed (if present); HDD reading/writing; etc... So don't worry. You do not see anything just because your computer is powerful and consumes few resources. Try run something like Disk Cleanup or copy large amount of data from one drive to another and you will see the results.

Best Regards,

Vad.

Hi Vad_M,

Everything is working great now with the updated version!  Media Player Rocks!  Thanks!  Just a couple of questions for you;

1. When checking mail, there are 3 icons, one "mail" icon, one "check now" icon and one gear icon..... does the mail icon do anything? mine is grayed out!  The mail checker works, but I can't do anything with the mail icon.

2.  Is it possible to keep the "green color lights" around the clock to stay on?  That would be a cool option.  I noticed when you activate the calendar the amber lights go on then off... be cool if u can have these to stay on always as well or option to keep as default.  Just a thought!!

Anyway, this is the best Desktop WB & Gadget I've seen!  Great work!  They call me the Gadget man so I'm really into these things!! lol..

Comment #120 Friday, November 6, 2020 6:38 PM

1. The mail icon should open your default mail client. If greyed out because the HUD was unable to find the path to your mail client during the first launch... Please, try right clicking on this icon. You should see an input box where you can enter the path to the program.

But if it really "disabled" close HUD Desktop. Then go to the folder:

C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\SD Gadgets\HUD Desktop\settings

and open the file huddata.ini in the Notepad. Scroll down to the section [WINMAIL] and enter the path to your mail client. The result should be like this:

[WINMAIL]
EMClient=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe
Interval=4 hours

Then open HUD again and the button will work.

2.  About "green color lights" animation. There should have been the cool "locator" at this place. But its drawing required too much CPU and RAM, so I had to simplify it. The animation is controlled by two timers with random intervals. Also it starts time to time when some happened inside a program or with your system (This is not an error indicator. Just decoration...) So, I will need to rewrite about 500 lines of code in six different classes to keep the lights on. Do you really need this?
