Where do you get DXToys? It's not included with it. And also, I need the calc program thingie because I have the trial version of DX. It would be great if you could help me out. Your stuff is great, and I'm thinking of making a LCARS Winamp 3 skin. It would be my first skin ever.

Greetings Kevin. DXToys is included in the object pack. You access it by choosing the add button under addtional modules on the first page of the object properties. I'm not clear on what you need regarding the 'calc program thingie' but my calculator object is up and available for download.

This would be a great LCARS theme if you took out the gradients. Anyone who has ever seen Star Trek knows their systems do NOT use gradients. Dude, seriously, you need to take out the gradients or change the name.

Hmmmm. Thanks NightTrain for your comments. Perhaps a little more constructive criticism next time?

OK, constructive critism, The colors you have added do not maintain any harmony or stay true to the original whatsoever. Pink, whatever color brown that is, as well as the gradients make a great concept look really bad. I know you really wanted to do something special but In my honest opinion you missed by a mile. I chose not to comment because I think people will agree that you have marred the whole LCARS concept. I gave it a rating of 1 because that is what I feel it deserves. Bring it back to a truwe LCARS look and I will be the first to stand up and cheer. However at this time I felt it necessary to let you know I was rating it a 1 instead of doing it all sneaky.. Thats all. You have an unhappy fan. Gene Roddenberry would not be proud.

I appreciate your opinion. The colors I used were taken from screenshots and images from the LCARS Federation Databank. It was never my intention to do carbon copies of the screens from the movies. I'm sure you have the greatest respect for Frogboy's judgement? Check out his LCARS theme on Deviantart and take note of the colors he chose to use. Perhaps others feel the way you do, perhaps they don't. It's interesting that your primary criticism is in the choice of colors and not the quality or function of the object. My opinion, since we're sharing, is that you judged the object on an emotional level rather than judging it on it's quality. There are many different images of LCARS screenshots available on the web. I tried to incorporate elements from many of them without blatantly copying them. If the images and the object in general were poorly done I could understand the low rating.

Personally I think there is no harm in a bit of creativity and deviation from the norm. I'm not particularly a Star Trek fan and I've never really seen the appeal of LCARs so don't shoot me down regarding these comments but at least you gave it a shot and have put in a lot of effort to make a comprehensive theme. Perhaps the main item should be in the Theme section rather than the Objects section but that's no biggie.

I'd also recommend avoiding DXToys if possible. It is a buggy old plugin and users will be warned of this on loading. Most things that DXToys used to be able to do can now be done without DXToys.

DXToys has not been used in this theme. Also, this is just an add-in module to the theme which for some reason is still awaiting approval even though it is just an update. Thanks again Martin for the scripting help.

Hi Rich Great Theme!

Now to those with negative comments, it seems that people here seem to have forgotten what other LCARS themes around look like, here a link go and take a look at the standard: https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?searchtext=lcars&sort=date&order=Ascending&library=3 and if you want to see some real bad stuff just type in Star Trek Desktop Themes, in to a web browser and you will probably find a cheesy theme with the casts heads as icons and a badly draw space ship as a background.

Ive seen some rubbish on this site lately, with comments like this is the best theme ever I dont know what is going on here but I see some real effort here and not something that was rushed out to boost download counts. I guess what Im trying to say is look at the theme as a whole with all the add-ons then make your mind up, but please show some respect.

You are right that I did judge it on an emotional level. I am glad that you have the full theme pending so I can try it all out. I should have not assumed others would agree about the colors. However it appears I was wrong. I guess you could say Its just not my taste and I shouldnt hold you responsible for that. I will re judge it fairly and open mindedly. In the past I have adjusted colors to suit my own taste and that is what I will do. Thank you for putting in the hard work for everyone to enjoy! Keep it up!
