I really like your designs... however, with the problems that I am having I can't recommend it or really, Desktop X, which may be the real problem. Every time I restart the objects have relocated them where I don't want themwith your weather object it is always asking me for my zip code, and it also changes from blended mode every time I restart. These are things I can't imagine fixing every time I reboot so, unfortunately, although I love the design... it's hard to recommend. Somebody please let me know if these issues are fixed at some future point though

And yes, I just upgraded my DesktopX yesterday, so I am using the latest build.

Also, are the "In" and "Out" meters supposed to signify anything? They always say 0mb for me...

Hmmmmm they stay where I put them every time, and retain the mode. You can configure the in/out meters to show internet activity (coming and going).

DjStoic - sorry you are having troubles, they aren't ones that I encounter I am afraid. An object's position should be maintained between sessions, it is saved when you unload dx. The only reason that it should reset is if you load the object afresh, in which case it is akin to a new installation of that object. Similairly with the weather, the location zip code is stored in a persist variable which should be maintained between sessions, assuming dx unloads itself properly (saving it's variables and so on). The blend mode is also subject to the same thing (I just reloaded mine to double check, it loaded with my saved location and in inset mode, exactly as it was when I last used it).
As to the In Out meters, they monitor net access, there is indicator for when there is net activity in eother direction, and a running total of how much data has been transferred. You may need to configure yours differently depending on whether you have a dial-up connection or an always-on connection. Try changing them from RAS to network. If you don't find them useful you can always convert them to more drive meters or some other statistic, using the available graphics and the other meters as a reference.

Thanks for responding... I have a feeling that my problem is with DesktopX as a whole though, not your objects. I'm having major problems with the locations of objects (only your objects for some reason) just randomly locating themselves any time I reboot. The In/Out meters don't work for some reason, and the email object won't remember my server settings either. I think I'll completely uninstall DesktopX, everything and see if that helps, but that's the only thing that I can think of that might help. Also, I hope it doesn't seem like I'm bashing your creation or anything, cause I love it... I think I'm just frustrated with the program and the seemingly utter lack of support that Stardock has on their site.

DjStoic, sometimes the best way to get support is to go to the Stardock IRC channel. One or several of the developers can usually be found there. If you have Stardock Central you should be able to find it in the discussions section. They are a nice bunch of people.

I'm fairly new to all this, I really love all of the killer objects including these meters, but I too cannot get the 'In' 'Out' activity to show anything other than zero. A I am on a broadband always on connection I presume I need to configure mine from RAS to network... but please can you advise me where or how I do this?

Thanks!

Also, when I try to adjust the brightness by adjusting the spinning wheel I get an error message and DX crashes, as follows:
"There has been a script error in object "k_metersbrightnessdial" ... "Object doesn't support this property or method: 'DesktopX.ScriptObject(...).Object.States'
Line: 45
Code:
(not available)"

Any suggestions?

Other than that, these Killer objects are brilliant, extremely professional and smart.

to configure the network meters, open the object navigator (dx in edit mode, right click systray icon, list objects) and look for the objects: k_instrip, k_intext, k_outstrip and k_outtext. Right click one in the list and configure performance meters. Go to the data source tab, at the top hit the change... button. In the performance object drop down the network interface, then below that the appropriate counter.

As to the brightness adjustment script failure that is most likely due to not having the latest beta of dx. Older versions of dx did not support the ObjectStates function. To download the latest beta you need to check "show pre-release version" in Stardock central, after which all available downloads will be listed.

Love them! If ONLY they had blend mode to go with all the other Killer stuff! But beggars can't be choosers I suppose! LOL... Great work!

the number of graphics involved kind of prohibited the application of a blended mode, unless it was gonna be a 2mb object, which I thought was rather on the large size

I agree with Monteis2002, I didn't really try to do anything with DesktopX until I saw all of the Killer Objects. I do have one question. Has anyone had a problem with the meters giving a Zip Code error, which then causes the meters to change to a different style? I set up a them to have the meters in the top-left corner, but after the error occurs, I change the zip to mine, and then the meter changes to the circular design. It also then causes DesktopX to quit.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
