I'm glad you like it. The biggest problem seems to be that accuweather doesn't strictly adhere to a schedule for image updates. 15minute images sometimes don't update for 45 min. If there's any interest, I could do a larger version, as there are images available at 640x480 as well.

btw frogboy, I saw your joeuser article that plugged this object Thanks!. I should point out that my object would be a lot better better behaved and would have been MUCH easier to write if I hadn't had to use the ActiveX web page control. I would have been able to do it without the web control if DX had native support for Animated GIFs... (Hint, Hint!
) I'm sure you're aware that the patent on GIF expired a while back, so adding GIF support to DX would be free now. (Hint, Hint!) Cheers...

how do you access the script to change it and how do you turn it off once it is on the desktop.....im new to this....thanks!!! (

David, right-click on the frame and "Edit Script". You can also "Delete Object" to get rid of it other than that it doesn't turn "off". Other than getting new images periodically, it basically uses no CPU.

Again, right-click on the frame and "Edit Script". Start reading at line #7. The code is commented and self-explanatory.

i've tried all the options (and combos) for California, and none seem to work. every page gives the red X in a box, except for H.S RADAR, which always gives the info for MI

I know this is going to sound a little absurd, but once I edit the script how do I save the edited version? I feel like a total nit wit for asking this but no matter what I do I seem to end up with Illinois.

Probably a stupid question, but would this work as a widget? That way you can just launch it when you want to see it.

Regarding widgethood, you would be then unable to edit the script. I would have to re-write it so that it prompted the user for the state and radar station code. No one knows their radar station code, so I'd need to use a listbox or combobox to let the user pick them, and right now DesktopX lacks those controls, as far as I know. (If someone has a working combobox, let me see it and I'll incorporate it.) I'm also going to do some graphical and content upgrades, but this will be in a future version. The way I launch mine now is I've configured my basic weather object to show/hide the Satellite viewer when I click on my weather object. You could do that with any DX object you like.

great object! only problem is that looking at the list and trying it maryland doesn't appear to work(MD). any idea if all states are not supported by the site where the script is pulling the data from?

Some states, such as Maryland and Connecticut, are too small geographically to merit individual satellite or radar coverage. In those cases, a neighboring larger state, such as Virginia for you, and it's coverage will overlap the smaller state. The image for VA covers Virgina, Maryland, North Carolina, West Virgina, half of Penn, Kentucky and Tennessee, and most of Ohio.

Those of you who liked this object (or had trouble configuring it) be sure to be on the lookout for "Animated Weather Satellite and Radar v2.0" which will soon appear in the Widgets library. 
It features:
-Improved Graphics
-Configuration Dialog
-Both low and HIGH(new) resolution images
-And a new ultra-high-res Metro Radar
You can your prefs through the config dialog, and it will save them between runs.
You can even have multiple copies of the widget open viewing different satellites at the same time!
It's better than this object in every way, and I guess I should know!

BTW, re that question on Maryland, the new version doesn't change the satellite situation for Maryland, but it does provide a ultra-high-res ground-based Metro Radar animation that comes out of Baltimore. Also, (in the new version) some states still have only one satellite position (that's all there is), but multiple ground-based radar positions in varying resolutions. (Pennsylvania is a good example it's littered with radar stations.) Hope this helps....
