this is awesome!!!
Uses low memory and just looks fantastic in both compact and full windows. This is staying on for awhile. Way to expand the envelope!!

Lovely - it's animated, AND shows a single day or the week in the layout I like... Very impressed.

However - one little issue is odd on my system - maybe a bug, dunno. When switching from single day to week view, sometimes it freezes up on me - any thoughts? Restarting DX gets it back to normal.

To get the forecast for any location, the procedure is the same as with any international-capable weather object. Go to weather.com and type the name of your location into the forecase search box. A list of possible matches will be presented. Hover your mouse over the correct one and the link will appear in your status bar, which is in the form "..../local/xxxxxxxx..." where xxxxxxxx is an 8-character location code. Give that to LookingGlass as the location code. For example, Vancouver is CAXX0518, and Moscow is RSXX0063.

Oh, I found them.. I see you like LookingGlass' "skinning" feature. Have you tried the version with the animated moon?

Yes, and I like it the best, but wanted to put a pics up to match the shot. If you look at Alien ghosts screenshot, is has the moon mixed in. Thanks again. Awsome objects.

I just heard from Stardock about a solution to performance problems with LookingGlass.

You should use Regedit and set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Stardock\DesktopX\DynBitmapCaching=1

This turns on Dynamic Bitmap Caching. On the machines I have tested this on that had "memory allocation issues" with LookingGlass before, setting this value to 1 reduced DX memory usage by 60-85%. It makes a HUGE difference. One machine went from allocating 317MB to 46MB. If you are not having any such problems, it is probably because this is already set properly in your version of DX. I am told it will be turned on by default in the next release.

Hi Guys,
The LookingGlass weather Object seems to be pretty kick butt.

I like it a lot. Keep up the good work.

Any way to get the weather from a Canadian location?

Any way to get radar for a location other than Chicago? I get the entry screen, but it won't allow me to type anything into the boxes? I try to edit the object with the 'create' function of DesktopX, but get a script error for the radar element, and it crashes. Any ideas? I'm using the full suite.

The LookingGlass Weather Suite UltraLite is my favorite weather object for my desktop, even though it evidently hasn't been updated in over two years.

Somewhere along the line, I started having a problem whereas my DesktopX process would, out of the blue, begin consuming almost all of my available memory, i.e. 800 megabytes or more. I eventually traced this problem to the presence of the LookingGlass Weather object.

At first I couldn't understand why this was happening, because there would be times where I could use DesktopX with LookingGlass Weather for days at a time and not have this issue. Then it would happen again.

But more recently I realized that this was occuring whenever a new weather alert was coming online.

I think it must have something to do with the proliferation of banner ads and flash animations on the weather.com site as time passed (I understand that this object retrieves the data from there). But aside from that I don't really know why specifically this memory consumption problem occurs, or what I can do to fix it.

Could anyone offer any suggestions on how I can fix this?

Thank you for reading-
