I love the idea. But when I fire it up I get the following error:

ActiveX component can't create object: 'WMPuICE.WMPApp'
Line 19

Just FYI.

That error means you do not have the WMPuICE.dll plug-in installed correctly. If you have not downloaded and installed the plug-in, do that first. If you have already done that, then try deleting and re-importing the DesktopX object while WMP is open. Sometimes the plug-in can be a little funny the first time it's run. Let me know if this doesn't fix your problem. (And I think I may have had to "install" the plug-in something like three times before it "registered" correctly. - I don't know enough about the plug-in to offer advice to fix that issue, but once it's working I can assure you the DX object runs smoothly.)

BTW this works great exported as a widget too (I don't run DX all that often, but I like having a widget or two at times).

excellent, but it'd be even better if you can make one with winamp support

I'll try if i get bored one day. I'd have to download winamp first i guess.

ScottyK,

I am having a problem getting the object to load. Every time I double click to load it, I get this message:

The package you are loading contains objects whose ID is already used in the current theme (ID = aa_cd_back). This could cause some issues related to the movement and the parent/children relations. Do you still want to load it? Be sure at least that you fix the object IDs.

I have just started using DesktopX and have little computer programming knowledge and am wondering if you can help me. Other than that, the object looks great.

mccabe, i don't really know how to explain the situtation you are havng. my only guess is that somehow, you loaded the object twice somehow? If you go to list objects (you can right click on the DX systray icon to get the menu - at least in DX 2.x you could. Take a look and see where the other aa_cd_back object came from. Maybe you loaded the object, deleted it and reloaded it? If you missed this object when deleting, that could explain how you might have 2. Email me if you have more questions and i can look into it more for you. scottykyzer@hotmail.com

ScottyK: This isn't working for me any more after the most recent DX update (3.09 something beta). The error I get says Active X component can't create object, then references line 58 which is the Set player = wmp.core line. Any ideas? I am missing this one.

Doesn't work for me either since an update to WMP. Looks like it's an issue with WMPUICE and not DX tho, as not even the examples with WMPUICE work correctly, even after re-installing. MS musta cock-blocked these functions.

I ran uninstall.bat with the WMPUICE and then ran install.bat again and that did the trick.

Glad to hear you got it working again BlueDev, sorry I haven't been payting much attention to these comments.

Buji, make sure WMPuICE is actually running. I sometimes have troubles because the plug-in turns itself off.

To the winamp fans out there... I'm sure this already exists for Winamp. I know there are at least 3 winamp Konfabulator widgets. My main goal for this item was for my own personal benefit. it seems that no one likes coding for WMP, so those of us that actually use WMP because we like it better, get the screwgie... so... i made this! and it was freaking hard! (i don't know jack about scripting). Since I don't even have winamp, i'm not gonna try to work on one for that.

This is open to anyone that has DX pro (or whatever the DX3 version is called)... would someone like to port this to a widget?
