No, when you say "this is a rip" you are accusing me of plagarizing you, so I am not missing the point at all. I've never heard of you nor seen anything you've made. And I do give credit where it is due. In the case of this object, it happens to be entirely to myself it's unfortunate you don't accept that. When I've done things that were inspired by or derived from the work of others, even if only indirectly, I have credited them. In this case, you are due absolutely no credit, contrary to what you wrongfully imply. If you had bothered to read my posts, you would see that I have been very pleasant with everyone that corresponds to me, with one exception. And that is because I have abosolutely no tolerance for your false accusations. You made no attempt to contact me directly first, either by posting a request for private communication or through the admins, in order to clear up any confusion over perceived similarity in our products. Instead, you brazenly spouted false accusations in a public forum. I suggest you reconsider your attitude and actions, although I wonder if you will have the courtesy to retract your libelous accusations.

I am very courteous, I am not retracting what I posted because what I see is a weather map config that is basically the same as what I made for Samurize some months ago. You have choosed a different app with similiar results. I am not here to fight with you or discredit you in anyway...we have nuthing else to say concerning this.

Best wishes Will

Will,

I love this widget. I know very little about the construction of these things but is it possible to get a version for your european brethren and Japan might be quite nice as well.

Please let me know because I would love to keep using this widget.

Thanks

Colin

Jack, There's nothing I can do to increase coverage... it covers everything that is available to me. For satellite, you obviously select by state, picking the closest state to you if yours isn't listed (for example, the view for Virginia covers about 8 states). For the ground radar, select the nearest location (it has about a 300 mile radius). The high-resolution metro radar isn't available for "the sticks" because there aren't appropriate radar stations there. My adding zip code entries won't re-task satellites or make more radar stations appear, I'm afraid. What state do you think is only 40% covered, and only 40% covered by what imagery?

kmdonlon......a 'rip' is the intentional taking of another's art/images and/or coding and claiming as his own.

Considering the number of 'clock' configurations/programs/styles do you think Grandfather Time should accuse them all of ripping his 4th dimension?
It is a no-brainer that weather objects/programs/applications will appear in every format imaginable and they are products of popularity/commonality, not subversive plagiarism.

Please be very careful what you claim publicly, as 'getting it wrong' is an invitation to a Libel suit or damages claim for defamation...

I didn't want to continue this but I will make a final comment, perhaps I came across a bit harsh to start, I saw this config and immediately thought it was a copy of a config I created for Samurize. I do take both of your points into consideration and realized that I was a bit prompt in my initial statement. Conceptually it is the same but it is different in it's own right. My appologies for my intitial reaction and if it wasn't a great config I wouldn't have made a comment to begin with. Copy catting goes on as we all know, it is tough to monitor. At Samurize.com we all share and share alike and I am passionate when it comes to anything Samurize. What it comes down to is, 2 seperate people had the same idea for a desktop config and I applaud your efforts since I am nic named the weather freak from my peers at Samurize. Best of luck.

Okay, I have this in object form on my desktop, instead of the widget form, and I need some help. This display is pretty large for my desktop (whether in small or large mode), so I don't want it showing at all times. I have been trying to toggle it's visability for a while with no luck. I mean, it pops up when I tell it too, but it has issues with remembering different states and such. I also downloaded your "LookingGlass" forcaster, and noticed that you toggle visibility of the radar within that object, and there are no glitches with that, and it works great. Unfortunately, I don't want to have the whole lookingglass theme on my desktop at all times, and would just rather have maybe a button or another picture that popped-up the radar.

I'm not good at coding at all, but if you could send me an object that simply toggles visibility for the radar (like done in LookingGlass), I would really appreciate it.

my email is at Hitchhiker427@cox.net

Hitchhiker: if you can't figure out how to use the visibility-toggle code from the weather object (it's only 2 lines of code) to create your own "toggler" then I suggest you use the widget version you can download from this page, which displays and hides when you click on its systray icon. It sounds like exactly what you want.

Not sure if your aware of it but it no longer animates with DX3. At least not for me.
Real shame, this is my absolute favorite widget.
