request for 'Public Radio support |
I should have noted that. It will run everytime you connect. It's just a pre-amble that's about 10 seconds long before the broadcast kicks in. I actually used to be a member. You got free CD's and live versions of stuff that the artists did at The World Cafe that you can't get or hear anywhere else.
About 2 or three times a year they do a fund drive as well. But this is hands down the best station I personally have ever listened to.

I'd love to know what you all think of the built in slideshow?

My WB got put on the back burner when I realized I had to upgrade my video card. But I hope to be back on it soon.

It was fun helping you, I built three other radios while do it and each one was a little tifferent and I learned a lot. I wish I had any kind of graphical skills to release any of them.

I have to say it is a rather large footprint. I'd like to see it roll up to just the volume slider. Somithing like the Silica calendar . . . the volumes slider with WXPN in the background.
Your use of transparencies is great, very smooth.
The sytray icon is hard to distinguish . . . might rethink that.

I didn't really consider the tray icon, and I will rethink that.

This radio (that only plays one station takes up a LOT of space on the desktop with very little functionality. The picture/bacground is nice . . . but it'd be nice to roll it up so it took up only the amount of space it required.
You could make the same funcionality in a widget like this: |+WXPN -------O------ >

The plus (+) would expand the radio to show the background, the call letters could launch the site, and the arrow would play/Stop
I would dig that even more.
I like the widget but I hid it via F10 right away becaus it didn't match my desktop.

It's a great widget as it stands . . . if I don't like it, I can roll my own, right?

I was just glad to make one that worked. lol.
I see what you mean, though. My problem is the scripting for all this,as you well know. I need to find a good resource/tutorial on the scripting for this. Something for 'Dummies' to start. I learned html script on my own and a very little java, but this I just can't seem to get a handle on.
I do want to update it with ...roll up ...toggle background...and a smaller 'footprint.

Thanks for the protocol |
I was never trying to correct you. It seems a few people borrow and tweak scripts, and that's fine. I just hate not being able to figure it out for myself. It's a personal and sinfully prideful thing, I know.

But anyone posting a widget or object (or skin) had to know that it can easily be reversed engineered and will be for private or public use.
And let's face it . . . few of us here are coders by education. God bless those that are, I've learned a ton. [Props to Cerberos!] The fact is that I can NOW understand much of the magic behind the scenes.
And Po, I'll never give you the answers . . . you'll have to work for it.
And someday I may have some brilliant functionality and need an artists' help. You are at the top of my list.
