What else do I need to alter - this is the address as it now reads:-
"http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/?index=blended&field-keywords="
Any ideas ?

Journeyman - you broke it! How I was finding the correct URLs was going to a particular site and running a search, then taking the resulting URL, inserting it in the script, trying it, and then usually having to knock some off the end of it...not terribly scientific I know, but then dx is alot more like cookery than science.

No as I say, the error message disappears and the URL functions seem to call up fine once its changed back to a Widget. But where did my little images go - apart from the first Google one - they don't show up on my revamped widget (I've tried it twice with same result - must be the UK URL sent em all shy and retiring LOL
