While the widget appears in my taskbar it doesn't show up on the desktop. I tried various ways to get it to appear so that account settings can be changed but no luck.
Any ideas? Is more information needed?
Thanks

SD Mail Checker is a simple DesktopX widget which needs the installed Widget Manager to run. I don't know how works this program but I have some thoughts how to help you:
1. Check what version of DesktopX is installed in your system. If it is older then 3.2 update your software please.
2. Close all running widgets.
3. Delete the Mail Checker temporary folder by path:
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER NAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock\MailChecker
4. Open Widget Manager and click "Options". Then click "Clear Widgets Cashe" to remove all widgets data from your HDD.
Then run the Mail Checker once again.

This is very strange... But it be possible.
Please open the widget in the DesktopX Builder and look for coordinates of "MailChecker_back" object. By this way you'll can define the widget position on your screen. If the value of X or Y are more then size of your screen you'll can correct their manually. Sorry for some inconvenience...
Bast Regards.

desktopx.object()....
Line 1198
not available
Builder crashed after this message.
Hope that helps

I don't understand this... Moreover this is impossible. The object on a line 1198 is included into widget - this is a first text object from which the other objects are cloning...
Now you'll need to clear not only the Widgets Cache but the Desktop Data Folder too...
1. Please look what the version of DesktopX are you use? It must be 3.2
2. Tell me please are you try to use my advices from Comment# 5?
If you use the last version of DesktopX and my advices doesn't help you give me your E-mail. I'll save the Mail Checker as a GADGET and will send it for you.
Best Regards.

Future enhancement thought :
Can the widget have another display mode that is much smaller but can be shown as is with a mouseover or a click? Just showing the globe part with a number of emails would be pretty cool.

As you see not only the author of widget is guilty in some problems on the desktop... I am glad that all OK now.
The widget can have so much display modes as you want. But I have no time to add something else into this widget yet. May be you'll try to do this by itself? It's very easy to do.
Best Regards

Account name: Gmail
User name: fake@gmail.com
Server Name: pop.gmail.com
Server Type: POP
I've tried using the Server Type: Gmail, but that doesn't work either...
Is there any way I can configure it to work with an http method like how hotmail goes to Outlook?
Thanks in advance

There are some problems to read e-mail by this way. I can't explain this in English because I know it a little. However I can show you the easy way to solve this problem.
Your Account must be:
Account name: Gmail
User name: fake@gmail.com
Server Name: no need or gmail.google.com
Server Type: GMAIL
This is all.
Best Regards.

I'm very sorry but I never used hotmail. Moreover I have removed MSN Messenger (and other services like this) from my system long ago and I can't help you this time.
So I'll try to create my hotmail account and to set up the Mail Checker with this account today. Then I'll give you the necessary instructions (If I'll get a good results certainly...)
Best Regards.

No any problems! You must open widget in the DesktopBuilder. Then find the object "sound", open it and select the option "Sound" in the "States" section. After that you can add any sound file for any object states as you want.
Best Regards.
