His reply was that I should try ResHacker but I don't see how that helps. I've made one and it doesn't seem to work at all.

ups.. I have just write a big comment and cannot submit. If you want some extended comments send me an email & I will try to help you. A couple of things. 1. you should have a little bit knowledge about codes, well.. open the file logonuiX.exe in your system32 folder at windows directory while using the logon you want to modify. 2. UIFILE section controls the appearence of your logon, study it and you will understand, is very easy, BITMAP section controls the images UIFILE reference 3. STRINGTABLE controls the dialogs shown on your logon.

You can also use the logonstudi editor, but if you want to change the way the bitmaps, colours or others look like, you have to manually open the UIFILE.txt and Theme.ini files and modify them, somethings you will not able to change and many times the changes you make will report you an error while loading the logon, so that I prefer ResHacker.
