...ops don't consider the word "(Done)" in the instructions ...you know the copy&paste !

btw the Aurora dock with the Weather docklet backdrops is here and if you want the Trans.Text to hide the Icons Labels here you go ...

The instructions for adding the stack docklet do not work.  Right off the bat, there is no Stack folder, only a StackDocklet folder.  Ignoring that as a mistake I copied it to the ObjectDock>Docklets folder.  Second problem, there are already images in the Image folder and they don't match the ones in the Aurorar/Stack archive.  Two steps, both incorrectly written.  Again ignoring that I tried to access the Stack docklet from the Settings>Add>Docklets menu but it's not there.

(SOLVED) first of all, quoting gevansmd last Comment #19 in this same page:

The problem was all mine.  I'd forgotten I'd made a backup copy of my OD folder and was trying to install the stacks docklet in the backup, not the functioning copy.  Oops!  Thank you for all your help.

You are welcome gevansmd !

... very precisly at point << 2) unzip and move the "Stack" folder into Object Dock > Docklets  >>

"Stack" = "Stack Docklet"

at point  << 3) move the 2 pngs (DefaultIcon + OpenFolder) into Object Dock > Docklets > Stack > Images folder >>

first rename the images already in the folder DefaultIconOld + OpenFolderOld

In the end restart OD !! and don't hesitate to let me know !

I did the suggested steps, other than renaming the existing .pngs.  I stopped and restarted OD+ but the stacks option remains unavailable.

Is it neecessary to keep the old images and why are they there?

Comment #6 Thursday, June 2, 2011 11:03 PM

well the 2 old images shouldn't be necessaries but I have them in the Stack Docklet folder as I never tried to delete or overwrite them I just renamed them, maybe the zip file was corrupted try to download a new copy

what about all the other docklets are in place + accessible with the add option ?

anyway here you'll find the OD wiky

hope it helps and again let me know !

The docklets I have are:  Calendar, Clock, Battery Meter, Web Search, Start Menu, Show Desktop. Recycle Bin, Flyout Menu.  I'd say the zip file is not corupt as every text file and image is readable.  Can't tell for sure about the .dll.  I'm going to try a reboot and see what that does.  I'll let you know.

By the way, I'd like to try the stacks as an alternative to the flyout menus, which are relatively slow.

The reboot didn't help.

I decided to try the Aurora Calendar docklet.  Once again howevere, your instructions are incorrect to misleading.  You say to unzip and the copy the iCal folder to the Object Dock > Dockelts folder.  But there are multiple folders in the zip file besides the iCal folder (smurf and Glowing iCal are just 2 of them) and the .dll is not in the iCal folder but above it.  Do you mean to copy the Aurora Calendar folder so it's placed in the iCal folder or the *contents* of the Aurora Calendar folder into the iCal folder.  In any case, still no .dll there.

I humbly suggest that you follow your written instructions to the letter so that you see they are either insufficient or misleading.  I write software and sometimes have to document my own programs for users so I'm not speaking as a newbie.

Ok I'm not a programmer I'm a skinner and I'm always trying to be helpful the best as I can

... if I well understand your problem probably you have to change your approch: the "Aurora Calendar" folder and the Stacks_images folder are not 2 docklets by themselves but only the skins  ! actually from this page you have downloaded the Docklets SKINS !

have a look here more than 10.000 persons are using my previous DocketSkins series without issues.

...or maybe, using OD Plus version, you are trying to add the stacks on a tabbed dock positioned at the top ?!   check this post

or try to use the stacks on another "not tabbed" dock (btw I use the O.D. freeware version not featuring the tabs)

again and again let me know !

well I know that post but it was only 5 days after OD v.2 was out of the beta (and the beta was only for the plus owners !)

btw are you still running the OD + v.2 beta ?

anyway send me the "Stack Docklet" folder you have into the "Docklets" folder and I'll see if it's all right : frankell.fc@gmail.com

I'm using OD+ 2 release not beta version.  I'll email a zip file of my stacks folder to you.

frankell

This looks good Q:  will this work with OD 1.9 ?

frankell
Comment #18 Tuesday, June 21, 2011 12:15 PM

nice to see you again DisturbedComputer !

A: for sure it works everytime OD is working (when the docklets are loaded)

I guess the issues are not depending on the OD versions but on the OS (probably Vista\7 64bit are not supported)
