This would not work on my win2000 machine at work, but at home on XP SP2, it is great. My only concern is that I cannot use it to display album art. I do not either (1) store the images inside my mp3 files or (2) keep each album in its own folder. I would like the option to point to a single folder containing all of my images; perhaps it could look for them by artist/album name. This is not standard itunes procedure, but I don't want to reorganize years of work just to suit itunes or a docklet.

Can you give more info why it does not work? I built and tested this on 2000 and XP.

I think I remember having seen this kind of album art storage with Samurize. Should be no problem to implement; however there needs to be a consistent naming convention like:
  • 1. [location]"\"[album].[bmp|jpg|jpeg|png]

  • 2. [location]"\"[artist]" - "[album].[bmp|jpg|jpeg|png]

  • 3. [location]"\"[artist]" - "[title].[bmp|jpg|jpeg|png]

  • (search order)

    what do you think?

Great Docklet, however I have the problem that whenever iTunes plays a song that doesnt have any artwork, the docklet stays on the previous artwork rather than swiching to the default itunes icon. Im on winxp with iTunes 4.8.

    Any suggestions?

I'll see to it. However I'm a bit busy these days - I beg your pardon.

Sorry I did not reply sooner-- I am also busy. I don't know why it doesn't work on my win2000 machine at work; I can tell you that it won't display "pause", and it can't display the artist/song names. It is like it can't find iTunes, except Play and Forward/Back do work. I used the same exact download to install it at home, and it works perfectly. Microsoft. Go figure.
I am delighted that you may implement the change regarding album art in other folders. I would happily use a standard naming convention. I would probably go with [location]"\"[artist]" - "[album].[bmp|jpg|jpeg|png], just in case 2 or more bands use the same album name. I have a very few free iTunes store tracks, and it looks so cool when the art comes up on the docklet. I look forward to seeing them for my mp3s, too. Thanks!

Since I have so few songs with art, I noticed one other minor issue. It doesn't clear the image when a song is over. If the next song(s) don't have album art, the last art found stays up for the rest of the session.

    Same exact problem here..

Otherwise a wonderful docklet! -- I just wish this was working because it makes the album art feature useless

Probably the album art feature gets confused when the current song path exceeds 260 characters. Please check if this applies to you.
