Many thanks for the feedback Dave ... and the following tip is only for my friends !!
you can automate the process of adding a new icon in place of the seperator but you have to choose only 1 icon,
rename it default.png and move it in the main O.D. folder if you don't care about the old default icon (the question mark) just overwrite it or save it in another folder,
now right click on the dock, mouse-hover on "Add" > "shortcut" > click on "blank shortcut" and the SpiderMan icon will appear on the dock, place it where you like and repeat for as many seperators you want !
