Thanks Sandy, Krissirk, terigw, and Mr. bilbo. Tony are you talking about the height? If you are, then the height is dependent on your Start Menu customization, the less you have as a link in your start menu, the smaller it is. Conversely the same goes for if you want more height in your start menu. Hope that makes sense?

But how do determine what goes in you start menu so that you can change the height? I've seen it done plenty of times on these customization sites, but never figured it out. I do have all the stardocks products so i'm assuming one of these might work but there's so many products that I haven't gotten even through 1/4 of learning them. Any assistance would be greatful. And btw, like the SS

No, you don't need a program, just right click on the start menu, then on the Start Menu tab click customize, then click the advanced and then deselect a number of the start menu items on the right side of the menu, by saying you don't want them as a link (you can always select them again if you want to) you also can't have many programs on the left side either so you have to right click on them and choose unpin from start menu. The only way to change the height without a program (and I don't know if there even is one, although there probably is) is to not have many programs in that start menu, then your start menu will be shorter, or if you add more it will get bigger....that's about it.

Thanks Tony....I had forgotten it also until awhile ago when I decided that I had stuff on the start menu that I never use. Sometimes it looks better short and sometimes when it has height...just a personal preference....nice to be able to change it though. I really like changing stuff all the time on my computer....that's why skinning is perfect for me

Thanks Karen....I know exactly what you mean about running out of adjectives! It's getting a bit ridiculous 
I'm starting to use "hot" (never use either of these words in the real world) instead of "cool" cause I've worn that one out 
and "great" and cripes there are so many wonderful screen shots and only so many words to describe them
