The Nautilus
........You could cut the tension in the air with a knife, we were on the verge of launching one of the first underwater exploration ships of its type...The Nautilus....we had been building her in secrecy for years, for non could know of her top secret design, or about her propulsion unit, which was the first of its kind built or even conceived of, anywhere in the known universe.....she ran on a thruster propulsion unit, with which air was pushed out at varying degrees of potency and thus enable her with the aid of fins for up and down, and the rudder for left or right, to propel herself through water at various different speeds, simple, yet very effective....if my ideas were right, I was about to change the world of exploration as we knew it for ever....we would be opening the seas to mankind, although the more I ponder upon that, the more disagreeable I am to letting mankind even know about the Nautilus, after seeing what they were doing to the world topside....but we would ponder upon that fact when the time came, at first I wanted to explore, explore under the polar icecap, now wouldn't that be a feat to be proud of, can you imagine the sights and sounds of the deep underwater ice caverns, the many different sea creatures we were going to encounter, I for one can't wait, the sooner the better think I, cos every day out of the water in drydock, fully assembled, was a day closer to the outside world finding out about my dream machine, and that will just not do, gentlemen and ladies, this will just not do at all......I plan to build an underwater city deep under the blue Atlantic, where no mere mortal will ever be able to get to us, unless of course they had another Nautilus, but the plans for her go with me, all tucked away secretly in the back of my mind....I am taking whole libraries of books, on all the subjects under the sun, I am taking teachers with me, professors, doctors, it will be a veritable Noah's Ark of humans and books..., can you imagine, people, animals all co-existing 10 000 leagues under the sea together, all under one roof....what a miracle of science and technology this will be, what a feat of engineering....you'll see, you'll be reading all about this in a book one day, I am taking a young writer called Jules Verne along with me to chronicle the daily build of the city and the Nautilus herself, it is from him you will learn of my great expedition, the greatest expedition known to man....Until then....Au Voir.....
