When you r click your start menu make sure that -start menu- is highlighted. Then click on customize. At the bottom there is start menu size. Where it says number of programs reduce the number until you get the start panel as small as you want. Worked for me.

That's what I did before, but it wouldn't go any smaller. I just went back to default settings and then did it again and it worked. Thanks

karmat if there are margins on the sp it will only size down to them i think,,,witch wb are you trying it on ?

Funny you should ask, Madcat, I'm using your X0.10 blind! - but I couldn't get the start menu to change on any skin till just now.
