I agree that the search box doesn't look that good. I don't have time to mess with this too much though so there it is. I like using old skins too. Blue Exatsy, Aerial, Eminence to name a few. I haven't "fixed" them as completely as you, again because I don't have the time to figure it out.

to get rid the searchbox & icon you could do this:
1. open sks, go to start menu > left hand side > bottom bar > extra setting > search field height & edit to 0, then
2. go to explorer > control panel > search icon, import a blank png image (can be any size, doesnt matter, i usually use 5x5px) to get rid the icon. lightstar told me this. but usually need to apply wb 2x before the icon really gone, dunno why 
i love old skins, i bring life to many dead wb & ip coz there are plenty of good things in there, i need to update it myself since no one will do it for me let me know if i can be any help.

i checked Eminence & found out that i have it updated 10 years ago, still can be used but need to make it dark for big screen monitor, the white background is really hurt

do u realized that skin is 17 years old? and still looks awesome, but u really don't need that searchbox, it ruins the look
been a while since i last visited screenshot section, i thought no one go here anymore
