Requirements:
Built to work on "Sins of a Solar Empire" v1.03. Should probably function on all of the 'version 1' variants. Requires Mod "Sins Plus v1.2", due to use of "Barren" (Rock) and "Toxic" planets. Should therefore work fine on later versions of this mod and compatible versions. To convert to non-modded Sins, just edit and globally replace "Rock" with "Ice" and "Toxic" with "Desert"
If you are new to Sins, to install this galaxy file, install a 'Sins Plus' mod from the web, activate it under options in 'Sins', copy the .galaxy file to your galaxy directory under sins, and copy the .tga file (if there is one) to your textures directory.
The Story: It is the year 2100, and Earth's Astronomers have noted strange, frightening activity in the solar system. Alien spacecraft have been sighted scouting the solar system! And so Earthlings return to space with a vengance. Who will capture the rich resources of this mostly-uninhabited solar system and win the day?
The Astonomy: Every well known planet, moon and planetoid over 200 km in diameter that lies coser than 70 Astronomical Units (AU) to the Sun is represented. -So Eris/Xena is in, but 90377 Sedna is out. The planets on this map placed exactly to scale. The scale used is twenty 'sins units' (SU) per one AU. Or 1 SU : 149,597,871 km Due to the large differences in scale between lunar orbits (17,500-5,513,400 km) and planetary orbits (59,839,148 - 84,651,451,109 km) it was difficult to place the moons to scale - They would have lain mostly directly on top of their planets, and made play confusing. So moons were placed very close to their planets with an eye for their relative distances. Planet types are set to be as close as possible to the composition of the actual planets and moons. As a result, there are a boatload of ice-planets in the outer solar system. The Barren planet type was used to represent moons and planets that were composed of rock, or at least more rock than usual. (too many ice-planets in the outer solarsystem makes jack a dull boy) With that said, all 'Barren' planets at least look like they are made of rock in the real world and have a significant rock coponent compositionally.
SoaSE Bits: Pirates? What are Pirates? When did you ever hear of 'Space Pirates' in the real world? Planetary Militias? Well, although more possible, see Pirates. I've played this through a few times, and it seems to work well. Bugs/Complaints and paypal love can be sent to: BDComings (at) Optonline.net
