www.ashundar.co.uk is a wonderful Terragen community loaded with talented TG users, like JavaJones[Oshyan], Velociraptor and many others.
also, in the Render Settings window, try turning the Gamma Correction from the default 2, down to 1.2 or even just 1. You'll see the difference that makes. Try rendering at twice your output size as well, then scale down. Hope this helps.
