I know this is rather non-standard, but I run 1680x1050 resolution. When I stretch I always end up with pretty goofy aspect ratios. Got anything that would look better at my strange res?

Top of the class as usual. 
Hawkyeye, I've found it better to create a background 'image' to suit my 'unusual' screen res and drop the image into the centre.
Easily done in PS or PSP and there's no stretching required.
