Great photo! I'm happy to have a picture of one of the great landmarks in my state! Is your ancestry all or part Swedish? My name ends in 'mark' and it's a Swedish name. Isn't the 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' a great place? Nancy

Hi PhiBetaScum ... Thanks for the compliment, Split Rock is a great site to photograph, and pardon me for taking so long to reply, but I just don't get around to this site that often anymore. Actually in regard to the ancestry, my mother was mainly Finnish, and my father immigrated from Sweden in late 1920's. Our family history has been traced back as far as around 992, and the name Lundmark was adopted by a relative in and around 1750. He lived in Kagetrask, Sweden,and was a soldier for about 8 years at the time, enlisting when he was around 18 or 19. Not entirely sure about the reason for doing so, but the name Lundmark was adopted at that time. I understand it is quite a common name in Sweden. Minnesota is quite a nice place alright; I grew up here and moved back here after some time away, mainly in the south, and around the other states, too. Best Regards, Steve
