I'd say that if you had to put something, an object or anything, it should be at the third quarter of the image ...

I think if you are putting a darker object or a shape it's

The rendering needs to be more metallic. Right now it's more like gold-colored water rather than molten gold. Your reflectance needs to be cranked all the way up, transparency needs to be all the way down; molten metals are completely opaque. Also, the shadows in metals are very dark and often contrast with bright highlights immediately adjacent. I'd bring the ambient lighting down to get deeper shadows and add specular lights where you want the brightest highlights to go.
Also, I'd warm up the color generally, it's quite a bit browner than gold. I'd bring in a more orange tone to warm it up.

Kinda looks like a well with golden water streaming down into it. Put something in the middle! that ought to do it, don't u think?
