anyway, ignoring that, nice
however, as memory serves me, at the end of 2010 (the book) there was an epilog set in 20,001 where the inhabitants were making the treck to the night side devider (as if the planet always kept one side to the main sun), and the obilisk was there, right on the divider, taller than even the tallest could reach up their tenticles.

hehe, small technicalities. 
Actually I never read the book, but it sounds like I might give it a read this coming summer. I made the pic after a daydream I had at work. Took several weeks to actually model to the way I "dreamed" it. Similar to scene I saw in the movie.

it occured to me after posting that perhaps this was modelled on the film, which i dont remember so well.
i definetly recormend the first two books (2001 & 2010), since 2001 makes much more sence than the film, and 2010 has a lot more in it than the film.
