you might try adding the knotwork as an alpha blended layer over the photo, eliminating the stark white

Great pic does speak for itself, the added stuff is realy not necessary! Or do make what the others suggest and make it more a part of the pic.

I agree, the added stuff is not necessary you could make it more transparant so it becomes a part of the pic.
