A couple of things to watch out for:
Margins - Margin adjustments can eliminate banding in your gradients and irregular shaped images (look at Vertical Scrollbar thumb and Menu Pull down item.

A Question since you had a screenshot of Avant Browser. I use WB3.5 in a Win2000 laptop. Whenever I use the WB skinning, "Open in a New Window" tab of AB does not open the tab properly. Typically it opens in a half-baked fashion & i couldn't get it to span the full browser-workspace.
Do you have the same problems?

Pictoratus is right about the margins. On gradient images, either set them to stretch (which makes the skin slightly slower but keeps the gradients even through the whole image) or set the margins so that there is only one pixel down the center of the image that is tiled.
Also, the titlebar text is difficult for me to read... I don;t know if anyone else has that problem or not. but you can fix it by setting it to "outline" by using the titlebar text effects settings. outline it with a darker color and it'll make it easier to see.

third eye--i have the same problem Avant 8 and wb3.5, and have not found a way to fix it
