The preview shows a "compact" start menu. The places list has been narrowed by adjusting the margins, thus only showing the icons on the places list and not the titles. This seems to be the up and coming fad, but I have heard a few ppl say they don't like it. I personnally do. Sorry for the delay in answering you as I have been trying to sort out the dilema with this skin. Some ppl cant seem to install it.

For ex, Crissy herself narrowed the margins of the regular XP type start menu when she was making the skin to create the compact start menu. Presumabbly she used SkinStudio and a graphics program in creating the skin.
I don't believe the user can change an existing skin just via the WindowBlinds program to provide a compact menu when the skin or a subskin was not designed with a compact menu. You would have to use SkinStudio, for example, to actually edit the skin to provide the style/features you want.
Some authors have been including a skin with the compact menu as a subskin so the user can choose between that and the std XP menu. But if it's not built into the skin initially, the user can't create one without actually editing the skin's code.

sorry for the delay in answering you Sig101 is correct. The compact menu feature has to be built into the skin in order for it to appear. And as he mentioned, you can probably achieve that effect on any skin by editing it in skin studio or changing its code, but most likely, to do that you would probably also have to change a half dozen other features to accomodate the adjustment. From your question, it sounds like you are not seeing the compact menu feature. If you are not, then you are probably using an older version of windowblinds which doesn't support it, in which case, editing the skin will not do you any good. If you're using the most recent version of WB , then the compact menu should just "be there" without you making any adjustments.
