Beautiful work! TinySnip, let it download like normal and when you go to properties under "add" just rename it first and delete the .u behind the folder name. After I closed it out and reopened it, there it was!!!!!

The preview shows a "compact" start menu. The places list has been narrowed by adjusting the margins, thus only showing the icons on the places list and not the titles. This seems to be the up and coming fad, but I have heard a few ppl say they don't like it. I personnally do. Sorry for the delay in answering you as I have been trying to sort out the dilema with this skin. Some ppl cant seem to install it.

Dang it, everyone is commenting how gorgeous it is and I CANT GET IT TO WORK. The more people praise it, the more I want it! I'll figure it out even if I end up driving myself goofy!

Im overwhelmed by all the comments about the skin. Don't give up on it if you're one of the people who cant get it to install. Im working on it and with the help of a few people, I think we discovered the problem. At some point today the skin won't be available for a little while. But when its back up , it will work for everyone. (I hope, I hope, I hope)

This is just beautiful crissy. The lighting effect you pulled off with the gradient is so pretty. I am one of the lucky ones that has had a chance to use this and it is a keeper.

Chrissy, is this any help. When I tried to delete the file with the "u" behind it, the file is empty but still there and when I try to delete it, it says "in use by other programs". Don't know what that means, but thought that might help figure something out. Just guessing at this point.

Ok folks. I hope I fixed the problem. Turns out there was a space in the wba file (Caramel light.wba) which didnt match the rest of the skin files. The file should now read; Caramel_light.wba. Please let me know if fixing it helped. And thank you Davidk and IRbrainiac for your help. And thanks to the admins for helping to get it back up and running quickly.

OK, for the last of the stupid questions, where do you find the "compact" function or change the margins? (You can tell I really like this effect)

A polished accomplished skin. Just very nicely done work. I have to stop myself from just playing with the sound effects, though.

MGiff: I believe the compact menu has to actually be built into the skin by the skinner for a user to well, use it.

For ex, Crissy herself narrowed the margins of the regular XP type start menu when she was making the skin to create the compact start menu. Presumabbly she used SkinStudio and a graphics program in creating the skin.

I don't believe the user can change an existing skin just via the WindowBlinds program to provide a compact menu when the skin or a subskin was not designed with a compact menu. You would have to use SkinStudio, for example, to actually edit the skin to provide the style/features you want.

Some authors have been including a skin with the compact menu as a subskin so the user can choose between that and the std XP menu. But if it's not built into the skin initially, the user can't create one without actually editing the skin's code.

Man, an edit feature here would be nice for those of us who forget to spell check. LOL

sorry for the delay in answering you Sig101 is correct. The compact menu feature has to be built into the skin in order for it to appear. And as he mentioned, you can probably achieve that effect on any skin by editing it in skin studio or changing its code, but most likely, to do that you would probably also have to change a half dozen other features to accomodate the adjustment. From your question, it sounds like you are not seeing the compact menu feature. If you are not, then you are probably using an older version of windowblinds which doesn't support it, in which case, editing the skin will not do you any good. If you're using the most recent version of WB , then the compact menu should just "be there" without you making any adjustments.

BTW MGiff. If you are an object desktop customer, you can download the latest version of WB from the stardock site or from Stardock central. If you are not, let me tell you...It's well worth the purchase.
