My problems may be related to my graphics card / driver. I have a 64MB DDR Nvidia GeForce4 Ti4200 and I am using Nvidia driver version 56.64 which was released in March this year.
I use Windows Media mini player all the time and have never had an issue with it except when using this skin the menus are all fuzzy and unreadable. The problem with the window disappearing behind the taskbar can be returned above the taskbar by double clicking as pointed out by hien62, but it makes the skin less usable.

alpha-prime, it seems, I have successfully fixed the fuzzy menu problem, by changing the menu colors of the classic colors to mach the skin colors in Skin Studio.
