Jason, in your start menu, the font colors look brutal, on the right side of the screen a blue font with a red/black background. Even from this distance it looks painful to read. Try a white/silver would be one suggestion. Try to cordinate the colors. Skin everything you can possibly skin, every button and frameset. Practice practice and then more practice. Take a good long look at the car, from the inside and the outside. It is a mixture of red black yellow and tan, brushed aluminum and chrome. The trick is to blend those colors into the skin. Go back through the archives and look for a skin where the author paid tribute to a corvette, it's an excellent piece of work. Just don't get discouraged. Keep at it and no doubt in my mind you'll come up with something excellent. Take care and be safe.

The biggest issue is font colors, can't read anything in Explorer windows, menus are very difficult to read.
It is also very incomplete. As Adam Michael has suggested take a look at some other skin, open them in SkinStudio and check out everything.
Keep at it, you will get better as you learn more.

hey jason..
i can understand where you come from...i've been lookin at this site for years and have seen many peoples first skins and um like WTF????
how did they do that.....i have used Skinstudio before and photoshop and have been an artist for like 20 years and still cant figure out to even change a premade skin (lol)
i know color very well and knows what colors go together through doin graffiti and painting canvasses and making custom color Pantone Tria markers....but still cant figure out how to make a skin and skin everything...
i have read some of the tutorials on skining and it looks freekin crazy....maybe its one of those things that "once you got it, you got it" and can just make a skin in like 10 mins from nuthin (if you know the process) i could make a custom color with my eyes closed...but only from doin it so much??

i really admire people like Kol_ and others for there ability to make these things look so freekin awesome...the determination must be crazy to get it perfect and on point...

i do agree with Adam Michael....look at the color combinations used on the Ferrari....heck go to www.ferrariworld.com and flip through the cars for an hour or so! (check out the F430 Spider while yer there......nutso car!)

anyway awesome skin.....i think you mostly know what needs to be done but just dont know how to do it thats all.....in that case were in the same boat! except your willing to take the plunge and im not (LOL)

good luck

Hey Jason, save yer penny's dime's and Nickels, buy an editor program like paintshop pro 8. It's a great program and it's cheaper than Photoshop but it still gives you a great playground for your imagination, I use paintshop pro 7 once in awhile. It took me four years to share my first skin, you took a week and threw caution to the wind. Do you know people like you irk me sometimes? You're not doing anything wrong. Just don't stay up until three am trying to make decision on start buttons. Take care be safe.

i used microsoft paint to create my first 4 or 5 skins. same problem, couldn't afford photoshop...problem with using paint is that you REALLY need to know what you're doing. if buying photoshop or paint shop pro is a problem, there is a free graphics editor out there called "Ultimate Paint" http://www.ultimatepaint.com/

i started dabbling with that before jumping into photoshop. and for a free program it really does some nice things. check it out my friend...you have potential, now you just need the tools.
