you seem to have made the same mistakes that all first time authors make. first and foremost, you didn't finish the skin (meaning you left default luna images in place)...normal for first time skinners. this is something that is okay for a first post, but if this were your second or third, it would be unforgiveable. you need to make sure you work with every element in order to create a complete skin, anything less won't be met with much enthusiasm. if it's tips you want...here are a few:
- sweat EVERY detail
- if it doesn't look right to you, it won't look right to anyone else
- make what you like, not something that may be considered popular. if you like it, in the end it's all that matters
- sweat EVERY detail
- experiement with everything. try new things every time you build, if you don't play...you can't inovate
- skin everything...people focus more on what you DIDN'T do more that what you did.
- did i mention to sweat every detail?
hope this helps

Now that you have caught "the bug", are you going to get Object Desktop? You get Skin Studio Professional with that. (Not that I would know the difference, but I assume there is one.
Great job on a first try! Keep it up!

No, it's not 'unforgivable', simply incomplete.
There are pedantic purists out there who believe you MUST 'do it all'. Not so. Provided anything you leave untouched does NOT belong to another skinner don't fret it.

Exactly...and if that means one or two details still need work...that's fine, too...
Number One rule..... Have Fun ....

This is probably going to go down in the books as the least downloaded WindowBlinds skin. |
That would put you way ahead of most people, including myself. I take one look at SS and run with my tail tucked between my legs.
I have the bug as TheGuyPc would say, just no skill whatsoever.

Don't judge your work on the amount of "downloads". It's unimportant how many downloads you get now. It's the effort that you are making that counts.
If you dig deep enough into past submissions, you can see steady improvement in the "best" artist's work. Some of their submissions may even suprise you. (No where near the quality that they are now). As you improve, everything else will come along with it.
You're off to a great start! Don't get discouraged.

All kidding aside, the skin is really nice. Not too bright or showy, but a nice change from the default XP interface.
Keep up the good work!
