Too many of us have gotten caught up into the Alpha blending / Vista clone aspect and its just great to see good old fashion creative from the heart skinning again. This skin of yours isn't missing anything!
Do us all a favor and please keep them coming!

It's looking good...but here are a few little pointers: check your images for the vertical taskbar arrow....they are a .tga ( and I am assuming that you used a .png for them)...so...make sure that where ever you have used this type of image, that both the transparent and translucent boxes have been checked. Right now the vertical taskbar arrow just shows up as a black void. There is magic pink showing around the toolbar buttons...you can use a .png for this and the taskbar button images...then no magic pink hassels!! LOL!!! Try a slightly lighter shade of blue for your window background...this will make the text more visible.
A question about the menu's - did you want them to look like a series of little panes all stacked up? If yes, then no problem. If no, then here's what you can do to change it. Make your menu background a single image of 150 x 150 of so. The pulldown menu item is a single image consisting of 5 equal parts or frames , one beside the other. Frame 1,3, 5 should be transparent. Frame 2 is the separator and frame 4 is the mouseover image. The separator can be transparent if you want or just a thin line.
Don't forget the Control Panel...the default luna blue isn't harmonious with your beautiful dark blues. Be sure to expand that bit on the explorer tree in Skinstudio and do the header and vertical separator as well.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

For the tray vertical arrow, I dont understand, because it appears correctly on my screen ...
For Toolbar buttons, its fixed now. For menu's, I wanted them to be like that, because the frame style is the "trademark" of the skin.
About Control Panel, I had tried to change the page color, but I coulnt recolor the right bottom image. This time, I made one myself and did the separator and header, too.
I wont change the window background because I find this one matches so well with the frame color.
PS: I dont have your mail... about that, I send a preview to 47Songs of a matching SMX I made for Velvet Shadows skin. As I used the rainy frame to do it, I need your permission to upload ! but I dont know if 47songs transmitted ...

The shellstyles have a little trick to them - LOL - to recolor them, you need to change the mode - they are index - to RGB in your graphics program. The top left hand pixel must exactly match whatever color you have chosen for the window background or they won't show up.
If you are interested, I wrote a step by step guide to making a skin using SkinStudio. It's available here: http://skinartistry.com/download.php You need to sign up to access it, but then you can also download the teaching skin that Night Train made (he packed it full of helpful tips!) - thanks Night Train!!!) and you can also upload you skin at any stage to the workshop and get additional help and advice!
