I'm glad to hear you like the fantastic four also, who knows I may work on a FF wb in the future

I test my skins on a winxp machine, a virtual winxp machine and also a vista ultimate machine.
A few users of my blue vista basic wb told me they were using that particular wb in vista and they liked it alot but mentioned that it had a few bugs and asked me to improve those certain areas where magic pink was showing up (and it definitely was showing up), I went back and removed the magic pink from the areas that were affected (ex. progress bar, system tray area's,etc.) It's not perfect and I'm sure there will always be a few locations that I've missed that have magic pink in them but for the most part, it's pretty clean.
I learned (on this site, don't remember the specific tutorial) that if you're working with png files (which I use alot), you don't have to add magic pink in the areas that are supposed to be transparent, leave those areas without color and import them into skinstudio and adjust the transparent & translucent controls until the preview looks good. You'll also notice that most of my wb's don't use alot of curved corners (windowframes are a good example), which helps because I don't have to worry about the transparent edges left behind. I am still learning alot and have alot left to learn. I still haven't found out what per pixel window borders are for (I never mess with them since I don't know what they're about), do they look better than the standard windowframes? (if you know about this and don't mind sharing, please do). Since skinstudio wasn't going to be vista friendly, I had to make my images vista friendly (no more magic pink). One thing that I can't get to work on my vista machine (probably due to an underpowered onboard graphics card) is transparency (transparent startpanels, taskbars, etc.) I haven't heard if the shield on the startpanel looks as good on Vista as it does on WinXP, on my vista machine the motion trail behind the shield doesn't look that great.
Also for the past couple of years I've been using macromedia fireworks alot more than photoshop, in fact I haven't touched photoshop in the longest amount of time, it seems to have gotten more complex and less user friendly with each new release. I first got involved with fireworks when I started getting into some simple website development (I'm not a website guru). I found that Fireworks is quick, gives me pretty much the same functionality (for what I use it for anyways), working with multiple layers is much easier IMHO. The only thing I can't do in fireworks that I can do in photoshop is create 32bit .bmp files (useful for creating the ultra cool splash that you see in alot of the logonxp's, boss0190 is the master of that effect)
For the general image editing that I perform, I much prefer using fireworks instead of photoshop. But again that's just me, I'm sure that there are photoshop wizards/experts out there that would tell me I'm a nut burger for saying that fireworks is better than photoshop. (and they would probably be right).

you're absolutely right, working on wb skins is fun enough by itself but this was an extra special skin because of the subject matter, I was a huge marvel (and dc) comic book fan/collector as a kid and still carry that same interest/enthusiasm today.

ps- to those that hate America, and most likely me now, i was not insulting you. A difference of opinions is good. without it this world wouldn't be around anymore. and once again to the creator, thank you!

sorry for the double posts, not sure why the system takes every post I make and doubles it, it certainly is annoying to me as well.
Rob, where ever you are, make sure you stay safe and come home soon, that goes for all American & allied forces currently in service around the world. This skin was not originally intended to be considered an expression of patriotism but everyone's viewpoint is singular, what I see is not what everyone else will see and that is a good thing; it means that I was able to achieve more with this skin than I had ever envisioned. That being said, the Captain America comic book superhero character is an icon for american patriotism and I'm glad that this skin is being recognized to have that kind of quality - I guess I was lucky to achieve that even being as short sighted as I am; I just wish Marvel comics had kept him around much longer.
Thanks again for the nice comments and for downloading my skin - I'm glad you liked it!
