Hi, welcome to the obsession known as Windowblinds skinning! This is a fairly good first try. I took a look at it in Skin Studio 6 and have found a few pointers to give you for your next skin. First off - there's this thing called "Magic Pink" - In Photoshop its 255, 0, 255, and it makes .bmp files transparent. You've taken some images and colored over the magic pink, so they aren't showing up the way they should. I know it's really hard to start with your first skin -- Skin Studio is not the easiest thing to learn and the documentation that's out there, doesn't really cut it for your first try IMO. There's a little arrow button to the right of the "Edit Image" button, that has an option called "frame builder" that shows you how just ONE of the images should look. If you use the frame builder to make pull in your images for things that require multiple images, your skin will turn out better. Another thing - you're trying some really complicated things like gradients on the popup menus and backgrounds -- those things either get stretched or tiled to make them appear the way you intend them to, which requires adjusting the "painting margins" and sometimes a gradient just doesn't work on those things at all; you're best choosing a solid color for those things. Many of your images seem flat and one-dimensional (for instance the start menu). I think a beveled edge would work better on those. I like the glossy red taskbar and window frame!

The concept is good, i suggest you to use .png images and learn better the painting margins...It's useful see others skins in sks too, this is only the first, go forward and good work!

I have never commented before, but I would just like to say what a pleasure it is to see helpful, nurturing comments from experienced artists (for you truly are). I love looking at the work produced and the comments from others, but sometimes these can be unhelpful. Keep up the good work and bring on the raw talent.

This is a wonderful skin first try or not. The people critiquing the skin are being fair and helpful but to someone like me who has yet to make a skin it is great. Thanks

Hi! It's a wonderful skin, especially the active and inactive title bar and the taskbar. I think that will look nice even a glossy red shellstyle (with a gradient red background) if you will make in future a completely simply glossy red skin. Congratulations for all your work!
