It doesn't look very good to me. There's a definite "give anything 5 stars" faction around here.

[sarcasm]Now there's a useful bit of constructive criticism.[/sarcasm] What exactly don't you like about it? What would make it look better?

It's flat, dull, unimaginative, it doesn't utilize transparency or blur, looks like a skin from 2002. Taskbar looks like it was done in Windows Paint.

Just noticed that my header bar and min/max/exit buttons are reversed color to that of the screenshot. Tried a couple of downloads with no success.

You are right, razor...there is no blur....this is MY blind, and as the person who made the blind, I can include what I want, and not include what I don't want. Since I don't like the blur effect, it is not included in any of my blinds. As far as transparency, you obviously have not downloaded and installed the blind....there is plenty of transparency in this blind. Maybe you should make your own blinds, so that you can have what you want in them!

grump, if you have per pixel disabled, you will have reversed titlebar buttons...that was intentional on my part. The regular window frame and titlebar buttons are reversed from the per pixel to differentiate the two type of windows. Also, the original blind did not have per pixel frames and titlebar buttons...all it had was the gray frame and the blue buttons.

First of all, does your graphics card support per pixel? Open the Windowblins Config window, click on the System Info tab at the top. Look down on the bottom left to make sure that "Never use per pixel borders on a skin" is NOT checked. If it is not checked, then in all probability, your graphics card does not support per pixel frames.

Just saying, it's a good effort but it's not up there with stuff like Light Mark or Sirius. I'm sorry if your feelings were hurt by not fawning over it and giving it five stars.

This is fun, isn't it?

I checked out the two blinds you mentioned and it seems to be a matter of taste because there's no way I'd use Light Mark, let alone pay for it, much too dark for me.

And I couldn't find the other though I did find a Sirius v2 which is 7 years old so I really don't think it can be compared to the capabilities of the WindowBlinds of today.

At any rate, you are certainly entitled to your opinion as we all are.

You have a right to your opinion, but you don't have the right to post comments that serve nothing but to flame a person's work. Until you have created a windowblind, and have first-hand knowledge of the work that goes into making it, I do not think you are qualified as an "expert" on what is good and what is not! You would be better served to not say anything. If you don't like it, that is alright, but do not post something that attacks someone else. The old rule of thumb is: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!"

I guess all the people who praised your skin can be ignored because they don't make skins themselves.

You're missing the point (or choosing to ignore it).

One doesn't have to be able to write a book to enjoy it and say something positive to the author about it. If you didn't like the book, move on and read something else. Just telling the author their work sucked without having a clue as to how much work and effort goes into creating it is just downright wrong.

So if you don't like a particular author's work here, you really only have two choices that won't make you look childish and petty:

1. Don't say anything at all.
2. Say something constructive e.g. "The skin is nice but not really my style. I prefer a little more transparency yada yada yada ... good job on it though."

This let's the author know you don't think it's worth 5 stars but that you still appreciate the work they put into it. Still though, as MJ said, all things being equal, option 1 is best.

Thanks nutty, for your support. I don't feel that razor's comments warrant any further discussion.

grump, you're welcome as far as the tip goes. I suggest you inform the author of Sirius how much you like his blind, though, not me...lol.
