PADD

Here's my second skin. I really loaded this one up! It's based on a PADD (Personal Access Display Device) from Star Trek. I really learned a lot doing this one. This screenshot shows the PADD in several of its modes. The upper right pic shows it in it's equalizer mode. In the main mode, the lower window can be toggled to display the equalizer, playlist or visualization screens. If a video is playing, the video is displayed instead of the visualization. When in video mode, if you hover your mouse over the video itself, the video will fade out and controls will appear that allow you to change the various video settings (shown in upper right pic). The lower pics in the screenshot are from the "mini mode" of the skin. This skin can be toggled back and forth between the main mode and the mini mode. In mini mode, the main control area can fit into the top control bar area of a maximized window. This is where I normally keep it so it doesn't get in the way as I work. In mini mode, the playlist, vis and video screens appear as additional popup views that can be resized.

The 5 badge icons in the upper left corner of the main interface show you the user rating for the current song. You can also set the rating by clicking on the appropriate badge.

The controls in the lower left of the main mode allow you to change the case color of the skin. You can change both the hue and saturation. The three circular buttons next to these sliders allow you to lock the current color settings so you don't accidently change them. You can also reset the colors to the default color. Also here you will find a button to turn on/off the interface sound effects.

I think that about covers everything.

UPDATE:
I listened to you guys and added a "micro" mode! Yeah! It is VERY skinny and definately fits in anyone's control bar. Get to it by first toggling into compact mode and then toggle again into micro mode. I've also added the playlist dropdown on both the main player's playlist area and the popup playlist used in compact and micro modes. I'm not sure I like the looks of it, but I wanted to see if you all liked it or not (so please let me know). I also made it so it remembers what mode you were in when you load it up so if you were in compact or micro mode, it will return to that mode. Keep those comments coming and let me know what you think of these changes. :)

Indianaguy81, what problems are you having with the video mode? When you load and start playing a video, the video mode should automatically start. If you are in compact or mini mode and you close the video window it may not open again unless you reload the video.

Do you have problems in all modes?

Probably one of the best skins I've seen. As a big Trek fan appeals to my interest... but also one of the best layed out and intuative interfaces I've seen. Excellent work.

drwho...great job. i used some of your colors and graphics to create a dashboard skin for pocketpc. i didnt want to upload it without your permission. would that be ok?

I can tell you've invested plenty of time and effort to make a skin of this quality (coming from a NON-trekkie). This skin works great in so many regards, there's no room to write. I reserve 10's for those rare gems, and this certainly earns it!

DocWho: thanks for your comments on the Dashboard skin. Since you may be getting a pocketpc, i wanted to let you know that I updated it to support both Wisbar and Icbar while using Dashboard. So it should be posted again in a day or two.

I absolutely love this skin, please do more Trek, I would like to see a really good, Windowblinds skin so far all the trek skins kinda suck, I bet you could make an awesome one. Thanx for making such a cool skin.

think a cool one wouild be of Earth: Final Conflict PDA or PAD they use. Especially when they can expand.
